Coil Floor Screen

For just under $300, I’d say this floor screen is quite a find. It’ll roll right up for storage, and can bend to whatever way you want it.

“Made with tidy, vertical strips of handsome bamboo, it coils and uncoils to create a wave shape that stands on its own.”

spectrum paper lamp

I love this origami style lamp. Each fold in the lamp reveals a different color.

“Brilliant on or off, this hanging lamp uses the spectrum of colored paper to produce an extremely flattering effect. Origami folds reveal a different gorgeous color with every glance. Hang this contemporary lamp in just about any room. 15′ cord. Uses one 60-watt bulb, not included.”

Coco Chair

In this day and age of spending $200-$400 (or more) on a dining chair, I truly hope that people actually like what they buy. It’s certainly hard for me to imagine dropping thousands of dollars to seat 6 people, but when I think about if and when I do, the chair/ chairs would certainly have to meet some requirements. Which brings me to the point of this particular chair. It’s stylish, simple, and durable. And, this might sound silly, but I really like the fact that the barrel backrest/armrest can be hung on a tabletop so you can easily sweep underneath (I hate sweeping around chairs, or moving them aside).

So. There you go.

“A single piece of solid beech wood acts as both the back leg and backrest support to provide maximum strength. Available in a versatile stained ebony, as well as a striking red. The lacquer is repeatedly applied for a thick, consistent finish.”

Vase Maker

I think we’ve all seen this before but for some reason its genius is just striking me now.

“Vase Maker dissects the classic vase into its two functional elements: support for the flower and a container for the water that sustains it. You can place it upon a vessel of your choice – a wine glass, teapot, even another vase – to essentially design and redesign it with every use. The Vase Maker is a recent recipient of a design award in the RedDot International Product Design Competition.
Made of porcelain. Hand wash only.”

Shadow Box Tower

This piece would be perfect as a floating divider or along a wall in multiples. But, hey, if you just want one against a wall to show off your stuff, then that would be good too. There’s also a shorter version with four openings/cubicles.

Cold rolled steel
Hand-applied patina adds depth and texture
Graphite lacquer finish

NAVA, D.31, Daily perpetual table calendar

Yes, I’m kind of a fiend for perpetual calendars (not a secret to anyone who’s been looking at this here site of ours for any length of time). So, in the spirit of continuing what is not quite an obsession, yet bordering on becoming one, I’ll post yet another even though it’s quite beyond my budget. Hand pressed paper bound like a book, this calendar shows the day of the month by turning the pages. Gift box available.

Price: $325.00

noguchi prismatic tables

As you may have noticed, I’ve been posting some interesting shapes lately. I used to be very rectilinear, but now I think I’m rebeling in the form of hexagonals and other equilaterals. I have not yet hit rock-bottom (amorphous or abstracts), but I’m teetering. Do they have programs for people like me?

Thorsten Van Elten War Bowl

You’ve seen this before? Maybe? If so, good for you. If not, well, take a gander. Plastic toy soldiers are melted into a bowl that is quite different than one you would find at the average home store. I like it.

Context Furniture William & Mary Tables

So if you need some surface space on a small budget, I’d recommend taking a look at these tables. I think they’ve got a lot of punch for the price (quite fond of the stylized shaping of the legs with the laminated top).

“Context Furniture’s William & Mary tables add a different kind of contrast, with their ultrasmooth laminate surfaces and aluminum legs. The silhouettes (again, especially in the legs, but also in the shaping of the tabletop edges) still draw on historical designs, but the overall result is distinctly modern.”

Some color options: black knight, invasion red, monarch white, royal blue

Materials: Anodized aluminum legs with 3/4 inch laminated, multi-ply top.

Ceylon Sofa

What’s this? A modern sofa under $1000? My antennae go up when I hear these words, and I have to say that often I’m disappointed with quality or else the “modern” style is way overdone. Not in this case though. I’m a big fan of the bench seat and square arms, and the aluminum legs add a nice contemporary touch to the overall style. It’s a good deal in my book.

•Kiln-dried hardwood frame
•Flexolator spring system
•Cotton/poly blend upholstery in mocha with topstitch details
•Solid brushed aluminum legs
•Four square pillows across the back

86″Wx35″Dx35″H (18.25″H seat).

Capital Collection Dining Set

I know this is not exactly “outdoor” weather right now, but spring is just around the corner. And this is on sale and too cheap not to show it to you. Okay, this is intended as indoor furniture, but I think visually it is probably much more suited to the outdoors. The only thing is that it will probably need a coat of rust proof paint, but since it’s “assembly required” I bet it’d be pretty easy to do before assembly. It will require a little DIY but if you’re looking for a cheap outdoor dining solution then I recommend it.

Easy to assemble
Table Size: 20i D x 46in W x 29.25in H
Chair Size: 20.5in D x 16.5in W x 32.75in H

Honesty Stamp

Sometimes you just need to tell people you’re sorry. If you find yourself to the point where you need to do it frequently, get one of these to avoid the hand-cramps. The British spelling is a bonus to help it go over well.
