If I had a yard full of grass, I’d totally buy a push reel mower.
The Scott’s classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There’s no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

Pictured in the post below (classic study solution), this modular shelving unit is a great alternative to the basic elements most of us succumbed to in our university years; not only can you combine the elements in whichever way you choose (low tv stand, medium credenza-ish bookcase, etc.) but you can add to it as your needs grow.
“Sabrina and Dylan Jones launched Studio North Design (SND) in 2001, bringing attention to an often overlooked material: forest-salvaged, old-growth Douglas fir. A straight-grained, amber-colored wood, it’s acquired through forest salvage logging, where skilled sawyers mine usable wood out of logs that have long since fallen in the forests of the Pacific Coast. Their Modular Shelving (2004) refines the basic concept of dorm-room-style cinderblock and plank shelving. Consisting of simple blocks and shelves in coordinating sizes, the additive system means that shelves can be added and taken away as desired. Compose the pieces horizontally as a credenza or media storage, or build vertically to create a bookshelf. The Joneses’ non-wasteful approach to design includes up-cycling: Remnants from the creation of one product become the basis of another. It’s their belief that wood used in its natural state, that’s consciously sourced, is one of the most eco-friendly materials available.”

What a great use of light and space. The stainless steel counter is stunning and also notable is the clever use of a mirror on a wall to create the illusion of more space. I usually find mirrored walls to be sort of repulsive, but in this case it gives the illusion of a much larger space.

This is pretty interesting…a mixture of plates and bowls all stack up into the shape of a ming vase. To get a close up of the inside imagery (which is really quite lovely), take a look here .
a great selection of plates and bowls and smaller bowls and more plates and it all stacks up in the shape of a ming vase…It’s pretty fantastic, about 15″ (40 cm) high, hides 7 different plates and bowls, is made out of Melamine and printed with the most beautiful imagery we have seen from ibride in quite a long time!

500 balloons tied one by one to this stool…I’m kind of surprised the price isn’t higher. Goodness knows if I spent that kind of time on something I’d want more money for it.
A playful disposition. Over 500 balloons are tied on a solid wood stool. Designer Natalie Kruch has a penchant for making the ordinary beautiful and intriguing. The BALLOONA stool is Natalie’s first object with Umbra, after graduating from the University of Alberta, Canada.
Size: 14 x 17 x 14″ (36 x 43 x 36 cm).

While this might be high on the price scale, it sure has some nice attributes: the very large size and the odd (but good) door colors.
Kast is a storage unit that is modular in structure. Supplemented by two simple wooden crates and a further basic module, a shelf/wall cupboard combination arises. Van Severen paid special attention to the color for the sliding doors, which not only emphasize Kast’s elegant and yet seemingly classical proportions, but also give it a fresh and optimistic sense.
Kast tall storage is offered with eight sliding doors in pink, dark green, bronze-grey, dark blue, sulphur yellow and bright white powder-coated sheet aluminum.

I am loving these handmade crushed bowls from Muuto.
The Crushed Bowls show big-scale architecture applied on small scale objects. The bowls are composed of equilateral triangles and principles we use for big-scale computer modeling. Adding human ergonomics and aesthetics to the equation we have derived a series of vessels that are carefully crushed for everyday use.

Since I’m an aspiring minimalist (it’s a struggle), I’ve been trying to implement the paper free lifestyle described in this Lifehacker article. I’ve been scanning in my old paperwork and shredding it and saving everything to my tiny USB key. I’ve been a little paranoid about what would happen if I lost it or it got wet, but I do back it up to two separate harddrives just in case. This particular one is 8 GB (which would be enough to hold a lifetime of data) and it’s shock and water resistant.

Check it out, the innovative Wall House has drawing kits available for purchase.
Both an environmentally sensitive and spatially intriguing house, the Wall House breaks down the idea of the “traditional” exterior wall of a house and instead plays with new material layers to create dramatically differing aesthetic, sensorial and climate-based experiences within the house. Through the juxtaposition of these layers –folded exterior sheets of high-performance gauze-like netting (“Soft Skin”), an insulating translucent climate barrier of polycarbonate panels (“Milky Shell”), a rigid stacked wood truss structural system doubling as exposed shelving and storage (“Stacked Shelving”), and an inner nucleus of exposed concrete (“Concrete Cave”)– multiple views and relations to the surrounding nature, light, temperature and domestic objects are pleasantly experienced from both inside and outside the house.
- Schematic Drawing Set: Schematic drawing set of the Wall House project, including the right to use the plans to construct a single unit. EUR $1.499 – USD$ 2.335.
- Detailed Drawing Set: Detailed drawing set of the Wall House project, including the right to use the plans to construct a single unit. EUR $4.999 – USD$7.788.
- Detailed Drawing Set w/ Custom Climate Concept: Detailed drawing set of the Wall House project together with climate simulation for the location of your choice with recommendations and custom material specifications. The set also includes the right to use the plans to construct a single unit. EUR $7.999,00 – USD$12.462
