I’m sure there’s an accompanying artist statement to this that speaks about the ills of society or something to that effect, but I just like it.

What a nice alternative to the ordinary paper cup and sleeve…
“The concept behind Warm, the contemporary set of teacups and teapots designed by Tony Alfström and Brian Keaney, should be immediately apparent to anyone who has used a paper collar with their coffee takeout. Here the collar is a bracelet of laminated wood, molded from oak or walnut, wrapped around a detachable ceramic container. The collar functions both as insulator and handle, and elevates the cup or pot high enough to preclude the need for a coaster. The cups are available in tea and coffee services…All ceramic parts are oven, microwave and dishwasher proof. ”

This is an excellent way to organize business cards without being too “roledex-y”…
“Organize pens, pencils, notes and business cards on your home of office desk in this clever accordion holder, which when inverted becomes a business card holder or rolodex. Condenses to a small box when closed. Made in Germany of comb carton and maple wood. ”

I know we’ve posted this before, but it’s on sale, so it gets another post…
“Japanese minimalism meets Italian nuance in the graceful and practical Coco Chair (2001). Constructed from durable beech plywood, the build is lightweight yet extremely sturdy for easy maneuvering in dining rooms. The continuous barrel backrest doubles as an armrest and can be hung on a tabletop to free up floor space for cleaning or storage.”

There are four attributes that leads me to believe this is a wise purchase for those of you in the market for a sofa:
1. It measures eight feet in length.
2. The pillows can be removed to create a daybed-like sleeping surface on which one or two people can curl up.
3. The linen-blend upholstery cover is fully removable for dry cleaning, and features Velcro® tabs for a snug, glove-like fit.
4. The pillows are filled with down.

Molo, the designer of the “softwall”, has designed a pretty cool product called “Softblock” which are:
“Honeycomb building blocks that can be used alone, or stacked together to create functional surfaces, or partitions of varying heights and shapes.
Softblocks are available in sizes from 1′ to 4′ tall, and varying thicknesses, although all softblocks can be stretched open to as much as 12-15′ (4-5m) in length.
Softblocks are amazingly versatile and can be readily stacked up to 10′ (3m) tall. Softblock structures can be created with embeded display areas, and can be top, or back lit to create stunning results.
Textile softblocks are easy to manipulate, able to withstand rough handling, and are water and tear resistant. Softblocks have sufficient cell density when expanded to allow them to be stacked one upon another, and to support moderate amounts of weight (e.g., a 10lbs/5kg object displayed on a flat tray). The ends of softblocks are finished with a white sythetic non-woven material. Softblocks can be dusted, vacuumed and wiped clean with a damp cloth.
Textile softblocks are made of a polyethylene based sheet material that has a Class A flame spread rating and tends to shrink away from flame – however, this material will burn if a source of flame is sustained, and thus SHOULD NEVER BE PLACED NEAR AN OPEN FLAME OR HEAT SOURCE. Please inquire if further information required.”

If you like the looks of this lamp, you have a chance to preorder now so that you can have it as soon as humanly possible. Awfully tempting, isn’t it? The 27″ one in white shade/clear base is particularly provocative.
“A minimalist statement in form and proportion. Tube Top combines a transparent formed acrylic base to support its elegant mesh fabric shade in tension, steering away from conventional modes of construction. Its lightweight shade appears to float freely, gently tethered by its fabric cord.”
available in: white shade/charcoal base, charcoal shade/charcoal base,

For anyone that has dealt with awkward-water-sloshing-walking all over the place when watering plants, the importance of a nice balanced watering can is not a laughing matter. Perfect gift for someone who takes their plants seriously…
“In 1885, John Haws of Clapton, London, obtained a patent for an improved watering can.
Haws created his improved design and method of manufacture based on a French made water-pot and created a watering can with perfect balance, whether full or empty. His design has not been altered to this day.”

Never underestimate your need for a backpack. I was walking my dogs yesterday and wanted to bring my Treo 650 (too-big-for-pockets) phone. Well, I usually carry my phone in my purse, but ergonomically it makes no sense to attempt to do so while walking a dog. Under normal circumstances a purse rests on your shoulder, but when walking a dog your arm is usually extended, causing straps to slide.
Anyway. A nice little Italian designed backpack would work just fine for a phone, bottled water and any other traveling necessities you may have for a little jaunt around the neighborhood, or wherever you may roam.
“The Cube backpack, crafted in Italy of durable cordura, is sure to transport all your work, school, and life supplies in sleek Italian style.
Available in dark orange cordura, with black leather and canvas straps and accents, the Cube has an easy-to-use fold-over top that secures tightly with industrial velcro.
Inside, a shiny olive gray interior is outfitted with one good-sized zipper pocket, a cell phone pouch, two pen pockets, and two credit card or ID pockets. Interior contents are quick to access because the cordura stiff “cube” holds its shape naturally eliminating the material folds in a typical backpack in which something is always getting lost.”

This is great for lounging around with your laptop without suffering radiation to the ‘important areas’.

Very tricky indeed.
“What looks like an ordinary socket is actually a mini-wall safe!
An unlikely place for thieves to look. Keep your money, jewelry, and other valuables in the compartment behind the socket.
Easy to install.”

This candelabra folds up and fits nicely in a drawer. But it’s so nice you may just want to keep it out 365. Or maybe 364 so you can make use of the folding mechanism.
“We normally advise against playing with fire, but you won’t be able to resist reconfiguring this amazing candle holder over and over. Jonas Grundell’s flexible design allows for up to seven candles, arranged in linear, circular or asymmetric patterns—whatever suits your whim. Simply choose your display, then tighten the center screw to hold each arm in its place. Choose from four stately colors.”

While I’m a bit in wonder as to what the text actually looks like, it seems like a particularly good way to say something ordinary in a unique way.
“go way beyond greeting cards with these unique plants.
so what is a message bean? it’s an ordinary bean, carefully laser etched in such a way that when the bean germinates and sprouts into a small plant ( this usually takes 1 – 2 weeks ), the bean itself will read ‘happy birthday’ or ‘thank you’. each bean comes ready to grow in it’s own canister, which doubles as a planter ( although you could re-plant it anywhere you like ). it includes soil as well, so all you have to do is add water. the end result is a very affordable ‘card’ that won’t soon be forgotten by anyone who receives it.”
‘happy birthday’ and ‘thank you’ available.
