I’ve seen this before (may have even posted it before) but I never noticed that the unit is actually concave. That makes it that much cooler.

Centered between the fall of Communism and the emergence of Capitalism, Czech designer Maxim Velcovsky is bridging the gap between traditional materials and current modern design. His designs comment on the throw-away consumerism that is an all-too-present part of our daily lives. The shape of a plastic cup used for stemware, the bottom of a coke bottle in porcelain, and a punctured vase all display a sharp sense of wit and irony while elevating something that would inevitably end up in the trash bin to an object that the end-user interacts with on a daily basis.
Velcovsky founded Qubus design studio with fellow designer Jakub Berdych in 2002 and the Czech studio showcases several local designers and has an impressive scope of work that features household items, fashion goods, photography, graphic design and more.

Apart of Mixko’s Hat Trick collection, the Delight and Coron lampshades will certainly liven up a room. Made from wool felt hats, the size and shape of these little lampshades would be perfect for any spot that needs a little something extra.
Delight lampshade (w/cut-out butterflies) available in Cream White, Sky Blue, Blossom Pink or Ruby Red.
Coron lampshade available in many, many more.
(These lampshades must be used with energy Efficient Light Bulbs – Max 20w. Use of normal bulb will cause the shade to de-form.)

This is quite a different take on an otherwise usual problem of storage.
“Kant is a desk that will help you keep your desk tidy. It’s got a folded back section which provides a place for books, files and many other items that usually clutter your desk. Made of either white or black laminated birch plywood.”

Good fences make good neighbors, they say. And good chairs too, I suspect.

This modular lighting system is based on combinable, illuminated balls. Each ball, or molecule, has three flat, rectangular surfaces, which allows for easy installation in and around corners.
One & two ball configurations are available for inner room edges, 3 and 6 ball combinations for outer edges, as well as a 4 ball configuration for the wall. Simply order the corresponding number of basic units.

Turkish design at it’s best, don’t you think? The elegant designs of Autoban this year at ICFF are certainly worth taking a look at; they’re just enough slightly ‘off’ to be exactly just right. That might not make much sense, but I think that’s the best way to describe it. The proportion is what sets the designs apart and adds a bit of wit. The red lamp shown is actually a larger floor lamp with a really glossy finish (available in other colors, of course) and the Bergere Chair shown has other upholstery options and a larger sofa option as well. Take a look at their website. I think you’ll enjoy it.

This lamp is delightful. You’d have to make sure you had a bulb/socket, but I really like the idea of a slight chime…would be peaceful I think.
“This lamp is ingenious as well as delicately beautiful. Five pieces of porcelain fit together over a light bulb (light bulb & socket not included) to create this light, all held together by gravity. Very natural & zen, the piece will also give a slight chime if it finds itself in a light breeze.”

The Plya necklace is pretty special. It’s composed of wood and aluminum and is available in either walnut or beech.
“The Plya collection celebrates the interaction of two opposing materials: wood and aluminum. Negative spaces in wood are completed with metal accents questioning the concept of preciousness. In this work, the gem exists in the negative spaces allowing metal and even the individual to become focal points.”
