Emily and Chad Robertson from Chadhaus are the next to share items they wish to give and get this holiday season. If you’re not aware of their design studio, they produce beautiful, modern wood furniture pieces made to order in Seattle, Washington. Thank you both for sharing!
In Emily’s own words-
Chad and I each have our own lists, featuring many great locally made handcrafted products and great shops in Seattle. A few picks from our list this year:
1. We’ve been reworking our furniture layout to accommodate a large dining table, and I have my eye on this pendant to complement it! I’m in love with the cut glass. Circlet Battuto Pendant, $1,950.00
2. From our friends at Ladies & Gentlemen, other items for the kitchen: Cylinder Shakers, $70.00
3. By our friends at Freeman (this one is for Chad). He said “this modern take on a classic is the shirt that I could wear everyday. I love that it’s made in Seattle by such a great company that cares so much about quality and responsible manufacturing.” FREEMAN STAPLE SHIRT – WHITE AND BLACK CHECK, $140.00
4. I visualize these beautiful and playful leather trivets hanging on the wall in our kitchen, and want to make something just to have an excuse to set a hot pot on them. APPÉTIT LEATHER TRIVETS $48
5. For our two little ones, we love these stackable gnomes from our pals at Fruitsuper Design. Stackable Gnomes, $44.00
6. From our friends and in-laws’ company, Piano Nobile (Chad’s brother Nick, his wife Isabelle and their two kids have a live/work space in the same building as our workshop):
-I love this little coin purse. Isabelle made a version of this for me in 2009 for the ladies in my wedding party, so it’s dear to my heart! PETITE POCHE // STAR, $28.00
-I’ve seen so many great bags by Piano Nobile, but this is the biggest and best yet! I’ve had my eye on this since I first saw it exhibited at WantedDesign in NYC last May. HOUSE TOTE // STAR PRINT, $200.00
7. I’d also be happy to receive any gift large or small from our friends at Velouria. shopvelouria.com
8. This time of year (especially in the Northwest) we need to share warm meals with friends and family to cheer us up! This vessel offers a functional means of achieving this in style. Grail Cassoulet, $295.00 from Grain Design (based on Bainbridge Island)
9. Finally, both Chad and I would both wish for more peace on earth and a greater respect for our natural environment. Giving the gift of charitable donation to further help those in need is always important and welcome.

What the what?!? Can it be? A marble serving board hand-cut with beveled edges? Talk about impressing your guests, fine Agaria Marble in a gem-like shape will make anything you put on it look like a million bucks (probably). Appetizers, charcuterie, you name it, it’s going to look like it came from a chef’s kitchen on this kind of serving board.

Are terrariums still on your wish list? It feels as if they’re not as popular as last season, however, I’d bet there’s still a fair amount of us that want to have a little indoor garden. We’re in luck, as there are quite a few options available over at Etsy. You’ll find more than a handful of sellers doing their best to tempt you with their geometric terrariums.

Remember the Picto Wall Clock? I know you like the simple graphics of its face and hands, but here’s an idea- instead of wearing it Flavor Flav style, why don’t you get the wristwatch version? A monochrome case and band has a rotating watch face that shows the passage of time, and it’s now in MoMA’s permanent collection.

If you’re still struggling to find a gift for a wine lover, might I suggest a modern decanter such as the Essence by Iittala? It’s simple and elegant, and, if your recipient likes color, it is available in a translucent copper ombre as well as a quieter clear glass. A small lip at the mouth ensures precise pouring while the bottom-heavy base provides heft and stability.

You know that small stuff lying around on desks, dressers, and countertops? These glass containers from Hay would go a long way towards organizing those “wee essentials” in an elegant way. Just take a look at those colors- there’s several reassuring neutrals with the smallest size sporting a bolder orange. The sizes are perfect for storing practically anything- paperclips, bracelets, business cards, you name it.

I know you’re in the thick of things, picking out holiday gifts in these last days of the non-rush shipping window, but let’s take a break and look at this Loveseat Shift by Margaux Keller. It’s not a traditional upholstered two-person seat, instead, the smaller stool has been modified to create a potential perch for two. The size is entirely suitable as a side table or extra seat, and the clever spliced shape will add a little bit of humor to an interior.

Maybe it’s time to upgrade your salt and pepper mills, and, if so, you’d be smart to take a look at Lostine Design Studio’s offering. Oak is dip-dyed for a stylish statement and the non-corrosive grinding mechanisms may be adjusted for fine or coarse salt and pepper. Choose either the small and large size depending on your preference, or choose both for a salt and pepper pairing.

Don’t arrive empty handed to a dinner party, it’s rude. At least bring a bottle of wine, or, if the host/hostess is particularly fashionable, maybe even these Metallic Leather Gem Coasters. Sold as a set of 4, the faceted design adorns pebbled metallic leather, giving off a nice sheen while protecting precious surfaces. Available in gold or silver.
