Pinterest

Over the past several months, I’ve slowly been won over by Pinterest. Snobbery initially led me to believe that Pinterest was purely for the ‘crafty’ set, and, as a result, I turned up my nose and pledged my allegiance to Tumblr, thinking I’d never need any more inspiration than what turned up there. Silly me. I’ve come to learn that Pinterest, as with many other things in life, is what you make it. If you follow a bunch of interesting people, you get an interesting feed, no matter if it’s Tumblr, Pinterest, Facebook, or whatever else you spend too much time on.

All that to say, what have you been pinning lately? I’m curious, and am craving a bit more variety in my feed (other than some very excellent interiors). If you’re on Pinterest, perhaps you’d like to follow me so that I may follow you back? I hope so.

CH24 Wishbone Chair

The CH24. The Wishbone. Whatever name you prefer, it’s a classic. And, unlike back in 1944 when Hans Wegner created the Wishbone, it’s now available in 15 different color lacquers as well as in natural oak or walnut. If that doesn’t tempt you, remember that right now there’s a sale on Carl Hansen & Son items, which means you save a little bit of dough when you decide to bite the bullet and add such an iconic piece to your collection.

BrickBox

If you find you move quite a bit, this shelving system might be something to consider. The BrickBox is an individual stacking module that can be assembled in various ways to create a larger bookcase. It’s made of white laminated plywood, and, as you might expect, is easy to assemble from a flat pack. Have several small BrickBoxes for a smaller, lower bookcase, or stock up on several large Brickboxes for a more serious storage statement. No screws are necessary- small nylon plugs keep the boxes in place. And, when it comes time to pick up and move, you already have all your books and such in boxes- handy!

Antique Mirror Coat Hooks

A set of special hooks might just encourage you to hang your coat where it belongs, especially when there’s some “special optical effects” involved, as with these Antique Mirror Coat Hooks by Garth Roberts. A combination of unfinished oak and specially treated mirror cladding make for a pretty set of four hooks, either in Galaxy Blue, Smoke, Antique Silver, or Gold.

Metamorphic Chair-Stool-Side table

Do you remember this chair by John Reeves? It’s remarkable: a stool becomes a chair and vice versa, simply by lifting or lowering the seat back. Several chairs can be stacked as stools, leaving a very small footprint for a whole lot of seating. Perhaps this same idea has been employed before, but I’d reckon it would be hard to find a sample with the same degree of thoughtful design and simplicity. (Update: now on sale for $416.50 from $595)

    Champagne Sabre

We could play the ‘what is it’ game, but let’s just skip straight to the item at hand. It’s a Champagne Sabre, a blade intended to separate the collar and cork from the champagne bottle at its weakest spot above the neck. Now, you’ll notice I mentioned it’s a blade, albeit a curved, blunt blade; does this strike a little fear into anyone else? I’m sure it’s dramatic to slice off the neck of a bottle, but I’m not sure I’d want anyone attempting that particular feat when they’ve already had a few drinks. You know what I mean?

15% off Sale: Vitra, Kartell, Carl Hansen and more

There are several sales starting today, and there’s no way I can compile a big image to represent all the furnishings you can save money on, so, you’ll just have to do a little work by clicking on the links. Instead, you see the Vitra Cork Stools A, B, and C, above, to represent Vitra’s sale from March 6 – 18 (plus free shipping).

There’s also Kartell, Carl Hansen & Son, DWR, YLighting (Flos, Pablo, Sonneman), and Tom Dixon; all brands are offering 15% off, and when you consider some of the higher price tags, that makes a difference. Now, go take advantage of those savings.

    Basset Chair

Measuring in at 47″ wide and 39″ deep, this Basset Chair is what one would call a sit-down-and-curl-up-in-lounge chair. With a horizontal “pillow” for a seat and a wrap around back, it has a comfortable, huggable feel about it, making it perfect for catching up on your reading list or watching your favorite films. There’s also a Pouf Ottoman to rest your tired feet, the Basset 2-Seater to share with your loved one, or a 2.5-Seater or a 3-Seater if you need a little more breathing room.
