Lunis Reflective Crescent Windshell

What, a cycling jacket on Kickstarter, and you’re not going to see it posted here just as soon as it hits our inbox? As if we’d let that happen. Featuring a slim fit with black reflective panels, this lightweight jacket could very well be your new go-to layering piece for day or night. Whether you’re cycling, walking, or jogging, the reflective panels provide optimal visibility when it’s dark, and, during the day, it just looks like a nicely cut wind jacket- as in, no bright colors and obnoxious reflective stripes that shout ‘I’m an exercise nut’. When not in use, simply fold it into its packable pocket.

Air Stools

The Air Stool was meant to be visually light and understated, and it succeeds at both points thanks to the designer’s skill, of course, and rotation-molded polyethylene, a strong and lightweight material. And yes, it’s plastic, so it can be used indoors or out. Available in four earth-toned colors and two (16″ or 30″) heights.

Duit Light

Now, don’t get too excited as this is just a shade, and not a complete pendant light, and it’s intended for interiors with electrical conduit. However, if you’ve got an interior (say, a retail or café-type environment) with exposed electrical conduit, then you’re now allowed to jump up and down as you’ve an affordable solution to your lighting problems. This 8″ fixture simply slides over the conduit and rests neatly on a ceramic lampholder (see Noah’s website for details).

Units of Measure

Here’s a very different way to track the days of the year. The Units of Measure calendar illustrates all sorts of measurements each month, giving you an educational display each time you check a date. Expect to find traditional and less well-known units of measure like astronomical unit, decibel and aperture. Note: as this isn’t made for any specific year, it can be reused.

Cantine Vases

What!? You still need a gift idea for your mother? Hop to it, as the online ordering and shipping window is slowly closing in on you (a few more days, though, so don’t panic just yet). Perhaps a nice, small bouquet of flowers tucked into a perfectly small vase would be suitable, and, if you agree, may I suggest the cork and glass vases by Véronique Maire? Each glass base is topped with various cork hats that create their rounded silhouettes, and while one on its own would be special and sweet, they do look wonderful as a group of three or five.

Mini Stacked Shelving System

Oh, nice! There’s now a smaller version of the Stacked Shelving System by JDS Architects for Muuto. The mini version can be arranged in various ways depending on how you position the two rectangles, and do play around with the spaces in between to make more room for books and other special things. The medium shelf has the optional color backboards, and, if you want, you can also spring for green or yellow clips.

Thunderbolt™ Express Dock

This thin, silvery box and accompanying cable might as well come with a top hat and wand for what it promises. An HD film downloaded in 30 seconds? A year’s worth of music synced in 10 minutes? Huh? Oh yes, it’s all the magic of Thunderbolt™ technology. Thunderbolt™ moves data on two bidirectional 10Gbps channels, which means that it’s 20 times faster than USB 2.0 and 12 times faster than FireWire 800. The Thunderbolt™ Cable ($39) does the actual magic, and this dock allows for you to use “a single connection to create high-speed, reliable transfers between your laptop and up to eight other devices, including FireWire, Ethernet, USB, and daisy chaining multiple Thunderbolt™ devices.”

This Is Fun. Space Prints.

Isn’t it? At least it will be until the three limited editions are sold out, and then everyone except the 3 people who bought the prints will email with the why-the-hell-did-you-post-something-in-such-limited-quantities message, and I’ll be forced to explain that these prints were one of the few things that I found today that truly proves that affordable art does, in fact, exist. Plus, it’s ‘fun’.

Verge Desk

At first glance, this desk reminded me of the Stash Desk by Blu Dot, but after taking a second look, it’s really not a fair comparison due to the dimensions. Sure, the Stash desk is a winner for its price and simplicity, but this desk is super sleek and has an additional 20″ in length for desktop space. Just take a look at it in another color and you’ll understand the price tag.

Troika Trivet

There has been a few interesting trivets lately, which is weird considering that trivets aren’t usually paired with that particular adjective, or even talked about outside of specialized kitchen shops. This Troika trivet has embedded rare earth magnets that allow for size variation to fit small or large dishes. Push/pull/snap/slide the Troika to the desired width and know that your tabletop or counter will be safe from hot kettles or serving platters. When not in use, the three identical arms nestle together to fit in a drawer for storage.

    Edge Stackable Chair

One glance at all the surface planes on this aluminum chair and it’s easy to see how it was inspired by the art of origami. Sure, it doesn’t fold (like some other aluminum chairs) but considering the nice profile we’ll settle for the stackable option. Each chair takes around eight hours to manufacture- that helps explain the price tag- and can be used indoors or out. An optional seat pad is also available.
