dockXtender

It’s a dock extender, simple as that. If your phone case is too big for your docking station or if you just need extra distance, plug in the extender and your troubles are solved, at least one of them anyways. Compatible with all iPad, iPhone and iPod models.

Etch Light Web

What a show stopper. The new Etch Light Web by Tom Dixon casts a lovely angular pattern when lit, showing off an elegant result of geometry applied to design. An irregular pentagon is repeated 60 times to create a total sphere approximately 65cm wide, and despite the size, the sphere remains lightweight at just over 2 pounds. It’s available for pre-order now through The Lollipop Shoppe in the UK, available September 2012.

Owning these pencils are the new black. Buying them for a friend that appreciates irony is also the new black.

“Pinchy” Wooden Clip

Yes, you could go on using those plastic clips to keep your bag of snacks fresh. You could also choose to purchase these wooden pins (made from sustainable farmed wood, of course). Perhaps the wooden pins would add the tiniest bit more pleasure in that they’re “designed”, but then again, perhaps you’d be just as happy with old fashioned wooden clothespins (24 pack for $9).

Cookbook holder

If you still fumble about with your cookbook while craning your neck to read ingredients, you need to stop messing around and get a cookbook holder. In most cases, they’re not that expensive, and they help free up a little more counter space so your culinary art skills have room to flourish. The Sagaform Cookbook Holder is a quite decent choice at $25, as is the Lipper Bamboo Holder at $18.53 (pictured below). You’d also do well to consider an acrylic shield option to protect your books from splatters and spills. More shown below.

Clomm Watches

Need a new timepiece? These watches from Clomm hit the right note of fashionable function. The clean geometry is nice to see, of course, yet it’s the few choice materials that will give you a few extra style points. Key attributes of each piece include steel case, Swiss made Ronda movement, sapphire crystal lens and Italian leather strap.

Iittala Jars

Iittala Jars are certainly a beautiful way to store away your odds and ends in the kitchen, bathroom, or office. The jars are mouth-blown of non-leaded glass and have airtight lids with a rubber seal. Considering the cost, you might want to use these jars for areas where they’d be seen- maybe on open shelving in the kitchen- because it’d be a shame to hide them away in a cupboard or cabinet. Note: You are able to purchase jars separately, however the links below are for sets of 5, in either small or medium sizes.

Meg Callahan Quilts

Holy. How nice is it to see some super modern graphic patterns applied to quilts? Matter has three of Meg Callahan’s quilts entitled ‘Spine’, ‘Ada’, and ‘Harrah’ on their website, and while the prices aren’t listed, we’ll assume they’ll not be what most of us would call affordable. They are, however, what most of us would call amazing. The Spine and Ada quilts use digital printing and industrial machine quilting while Harrah is an entirely hand stitched patchwork.

Japanese Shouting Vase

This vase is definitely not the prettiest of things, but it sure does pack a useful punch of a function: it absorbs your screams, shouts and frustrations. When you release your expletives/anger, only a whisper soft version comes out through the tiny hole at the base (do be sure to use it in a wise location). The gift scenarios are endless, of course, so it wouldn’t hurt to bookmark it for the future.

    Magis Baguette Table

This Baguette Table from Magis is 15% off Until June 11, which means you can save a chunk of change if it fits your dining requirements (and your budget). The thin, angled legs bring to mind the Eames House Bird a little, don’t you think? The black is my personal favorite, but there’s also a polished version as well as white.

    Pulpop Speakers

The more stuff made out of recycled paper, the better. So why not speakers? These speakers by Balance Studio are made from recycled paper pulp and use vibration speaker technology to “intensify the sound through the surface on which they stand, as well as through the hollow space inside the doughnut.” Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
