Kosketin Carpet

Do you know what Kosketin means? You’ll probably guess it has something to do with a keyboard, and you’ll be right*. I thought it sounded more like a medicine brand name than anything, but what do I know? The Kosketin carpet is constructed of paper yarn and cotton.

Beater Whisk

So smart. This whisk by Ding3000 can be folded together to save space in your kitchen drawer. A small ring serves as the opening and closing mechanism and can be used to hang the whisk as well. Looks like it would be easy to clean (it’s nylon), and, if that’s not enough for you, check out all the colors available: white, grey, light blue, nude, lavender, pink, mint and dark blue.

Cross Tray Birch

Call me crazy, but I like the birch version of this tray so much more than the white. Thankfully, the tray is much less than the Cross and Crux blankets, so there’s hope of adding it to one’s home decor sooner rather than later. There’s also a smaller size (31 cm) for 250kr, which works out to be around $37.

Planktable by Piet Hein Eek

Because this table is made from scrapwood, each is one-of-a-kind. There’s also a non-scrapwood teak version (pictured below), but you’d do well to consider the more interesting scrap version, as Mr. Eek is known for that sort of thing (remember the Scrapwood Wallpaper?).

If you’re not familiar with his work, check out the full collection on his website: Piet Hein Eek.

Envelope iPad Case

Taking inspiration from traditional manila envelopes, this polyurethane iPad case has a string and button closure. The contrasting color string is an especially nice yet subtle touch- my favorite is the grey case with orange string. The case fits iPad 1 and iPad 2, as well as the iPad Smart Cover.

Available in grey, red, and black.

Salad Servers

Salad servers are one of those things that get overlooked, unless you did (or are doing) the whole gift registry thing for your wedding/celebration/housewarming/etc. Personally, I don’t think I’ve ever owned a specific pair of salad servers (the shame!) and running across these three options, I might just decide to remedy the situation. See below for details on each set.

    Envelope Chest

Expletive! This Envelope Chest is so very clever for its appropriation of the classic string-and-button envelope closure. It has custom leather rounds and cord (instead of paper and string) and has soft close hinges. Be sure to take a look at the other pieces in Field Day’s collection: Shingles Pantry and the Vault Dresser.

    Noble glass travel thermos

If you’re crazy about tea, as in crazy enough to want a specific travel thermos with an inbuilt stainless steel infuser, then you’ll go bonkers over this glass and bamboo version. It’s double-paned, of course, to keep your fingers protected and your tea hot or cold, depending on your preference. And, speaking as a crazy tea person, there is something nice about glass carafe rather than stainless steel- just don’t go knocking it about like it’s unbreakable.

    Geo Pillow

Designer Mika Barr has released her first collection in a series named Geo, a pattern derived from the world of Origami paper-folding. Pretty terrific, don’t you think? So terrific it might require begging/purchasing of luggage space from the next European traveler to the states. Or paying extra for international shipping, of course.

    Postino Desk Accessories

Looking for a set of desk accessories? The Postino collection by Alexis Georgacopoulos are inspired by the folds of a paper envelope, if you haven’t already guessed. The open edges give the aluminum material “a conceptual lightness”, though I’m sure if you decide to throw them at anyone they’ll be appropriately heavy.

    iErnest camera strap

Ooo, take a look at this very nice camera strap. It has an elastic shock absorber (it’s adjustable) to reduce neck and shoulder pressure as well as a few extra details that set it far above your current strap. There’s no plastic parts or connectors, and small leather discs pad the metal D-rings and protect your camera. There’s also a concealed neoprene neck pad for extra comfort. Oh, and, of course, it looks (and probably feels) expensive because it is.

    Hidden Message Cups

Not many of us know how to read braille, and I’m not sure that owning these 4 cups with the lines “Be Kind,” “Breathe Deep,” “Love Yourself,” and “Make Time” will actually help us learn, but they do look nice, don’t they? The phrases are also printed on the bottom of each cup, so perhaps you can test yourself each time you use one.

    Gear Console Table

You would be hard pressed to find a console table more simple than this. Heavy duty steel with super thin legs means it almost disappears, yet it’s sturdy enough to take a few stacks of your massive art and photography books.
