I know, a Wooden Bookstand is not at the top of your need/want list. However, if you’re short on wall space, it could be just the thing to highlight your favorite photograph, painting or special book. Heck, it may even encourage you to play an instrument (it could hold sheet music as well), or, if not that, at least make you look a little more cultured.

It’d be awfully tempting to stuff this tea towel into the mouth of a loud, mean person. Would we get punched in the face? Probably. But, it might shut them up, at least temporarily. And, it’d be hard to be mean when holding a tea towel with a pretty rainbow and the words ‘BE NICE’, wouldn’t it? So, maybe they’d change, as if by magic. After removing it from their mouths, of course.

This sofa looks like a pretty perfect place for a long nap, don’t you think? I know what you’re thinking- which body part do my clothes like best? Don’t let your hats/jackets/scarves be discriminatory, get both the Wall Willy and the Boob Hook! Not everyone can afford super expensive lighting, especially when that lighting might be going in, say, a kid’s bedroom or guest room. They should just be happy they’ve got a light to read by, right? So, here’s a break for you: five sconces under $150. Yep, you read that right, no zeros are missing. Now, I can’t vouch for the quality, so keep that in mind… though, usually you get what you pay for, in my experience.

Maybe you can go chop down a tree, take off all the bark, then paint it and add a sturdy woven cotton handle, but some of us have other things to do. Plus, when these stools are less than $100 and made from sustainably harvested oak, it’s awfully hard to resist such affordable seats.

With all the news coverage of the flooding in Houston, it’d be silly not to assess your disaster preparedness plan. Do you have one? Do you have the necessary food, water, and gear, just in case your city is hit with a natural (or man-made) disaster? And, considering most of us rely on our mobile phones, do you have a solar and/or hand crank charger? If not, now’s the time to get one, so you can at least be certain you can power up your device if the electrical grid fails you.
