If you care about presentation, or just simply the way papers or collections are kept, you’ll probably nerd out a little with me about this binder. Originating around 1917 from the KABE Verlag (KABE publication) company, the Springback binder was intended to instantly bind documents into a book, singly or in batches. A hidden binding can be opened and closed to rearrange or add contents, making it functional as a regular binder yet more secure as with a book cover. Keep in mind that the spine of the binder is rather large to accommodate the function, but I’d say that’s a small price to pay for such a finished look.

There is more to this bench than meets the eye. Did you know it’s made primarily from recycled paper and plastic? Did you know it is a modular design based on on L-shaped units, which allow for building individual chairs, tables, and multi-seat configurations? One pack of ten makes a chair, table base or stool, while two packs will get you a bench, settee or coffee table. Three or more packs means longer bench seating (and possibly more interesting combinations). A simple system of connecting rods allows for quick assembly; one pack shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes to set up. Noted Japanese architect Shigeru Ban is the brains behind this system (there’s lots of images of his architecture on google if you want a quick look).

Throw out those gross tension rod shelves and suction cup baskets in your shower. This shower curtain has four large self-draining pockets to hold your bottles, two loops for toothbrushes and razors, and, on the outside, towel loops. Machine washable and water repellent, you’ll have no need for a liner, as you can throw this curtain into the wash when it needs a cleaning. If you don’t mind the utilitarian feel, it’s a great choice for a bathroom short on storage.

Another Kickstarter project to feast your eyes upon: the Red Pop is an accessory that adds a big, red button to the iPhone so you can take photos easier. Instead of tapping around on the iPhone’s screen, the Red Pop’s button brings back a little of the old camera feel, giving you a firm grip on the phone as well as less down time between photos. This is such a smart bag. It’s a backpack and duffle that’s super simple in visual design. Similar, of course, to Molo’s softseating, this FlexibleLove bench folds up to less than a foot in length while providing seating for 8 to 20 people when fully extended. Impressive, no? I’d say it’d be extremely handy for parties.

I seriously like Kickstarter. There’s quite a few smart product ideas looking to get a little support, and it sure doesn’t take much money to help out. Case in point, these Wallplates by Justin Porcano. I’d say they’re an improvement on Paul Koh’s Toggle and Rocker Key Switch in that the hook (and/or envelope) function is located to the side instead of above the actual switch. Pledge $15 or more and you get the Hook version, shown on right.

These glasses would be excellent to have at your next dinner party, wouldn’t they? The graphics are musical notations for the correct level of liquid to produce the perfect pitch when a user runs their finger along the rim of the glass. As the price is for a set of 2, you’ll need to shell out a fair amount of dough to get a complete octave.
