Perusing the various Windsor chairs designed by Matthew Hilton (for De La Espada), made me think that I had recently sighted a similar modern Windsor lounge somewhere else… and indeed, I had… at West Elm. Maybe it’s obvious which one’s which, but have a guess at the price difference and see if you’re right…

Yes, you can get a 4GB USB drive for under $10 nowadays. You probably have several already, and maybe even aren’t sure what’s on which one… or maybe that’s just me. So even though you’d be paying a premium for a USB drive in a repurposed film canister, you know you won’t forget which drive your photos are kept.

I have an aversion to fruit bowls, or rather, an aversion to styled fruit bowls; mainly I blame the first issue of Dwell and the manifesto found within. It planted a little seed of awareness, and ever since I’ve shied away from piling fruit up within a bowl, preferring to let it sit in disarray on my counter. I made a semi-conscious decision to let my home look lived in- not too perfect or too organized- and this tiny little decision was a sort of a symbolic flipping of ‘the bird’ (a la Flight Of the Conchords) to all those perfect shellacked photos that I wondered (and sometimes drooled) over in shelter magazines.

This hanger would be a very handy thing to have around. “Sey” means “thing” in Turkish, and this “thing” can hold books, coats, towels, jewelry, etc. Several hung together would hold a whole lot in a relatively small footprint, so it wins points for working in smaller spaces. If you’ve ever been to (or seen pics of) the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, you’ll get why these hooks were inspired by the place, as virtually everything you can think of is hanging out for display. MoMA is selling the Sey Hanger as part of their Destination: Istanbul series, which mean it won’t be available for long.

How much do you want to spend on an outdoor area rug? Let me guess: not a whole lot, as it’s going to be outside. This recycled polypropelene rug ticks the right boxes as it’s $80, 5’x8′, and has a very colorful pattern to jazz up your patio or porch area. It can go inside as well, maybe for a kitchen or dining area.

Not being a huge fan of all-aluminum chairs, I’m happy to see that British designer Michael Young has partnered with Emeco to bring about a hybrid with solid ash legs (harvested from fallen timber near Lancaster, PA, hence the chair’s name). The seat and back are available matte or polished, either of which gives a nice contrast to the softer wood. You also might be happy to hear that these stack up to six high, making storage optional.

How quickly time flies. I posted this back in 2007, and, as is usually the case, the price has changed since then. While the Shadylace certainly isn’t new to the scene, I still think it’s a lovely choice for an outdoor umbrella. Light filters through the waterproof leaf motif, making you feel as though you’re sitting underneath a tree. Such a great alternative to all those semi-boring umbrellas out there.

Nice. These shelving units are made of 1/2″ thick formed acrylic with rubber cord to create the illusion of floating space. From a distance they look hazy, yet up close they have an interesting linear pattern.

This little Lego-ish light features four LEDs that “achieve top performance”, but what I like most is that the head flips back and forth to provide either localized bedside lighting or an overall accent light.

Hmm, take a look at these kitchen utensils. You’re seeing a modular spatula system sourced from Quirky, which features several attachments that snap into a universal handle and are released by clicking the button. Not being all that adept in the kitchen, I’m not sure of the pros and cons, but it does appear to be a good idea.

Included in the set: storage block, ergonomic handle, and five detachable spatula heads.

Over the past few years, I’ve read (and responded) to quite a few emails asking about the Hola Y Adios Entry Table and where it might be found. Sadly, it seems to remain unavailable despite its apparent popularity. However, there is hope: look at this little new console table from Gus*. It measures 36″w x 32″h x 10″d, which is the exact same depth as the Hola Y Adios, and is a tad less wide (-4″) and tall (-3″). Plus, it’s got a rectangular recess to keep important things in place (like keys, phones, mail, etc.).

Hello there, you handsome devil. I’m such a sucker for blind tufted upholstery (and piping! swoon), and this new sofa from Gus* has caught my eye thanks to its sleek lines and tailored feel. At the $2g mark, it’s not the cheapest seating option, but it’s sure more affordable than most high end sofas you’ll find with the same styling. Also available in a lighter beige (Cabana Hemp).

While I find these cork pegs to be a tiny bit expensive to cover a whole wall with, you might be burning $50 bills for the fun of it, so here you are. They’re actually a pretty good size, which is nice, and each peg comes with a magnetic mounting system. The total weight bearing capacity is 2.65 lbs when something is hung from the end and 4.85 lbs when something is hung from the middle. See the ‘how to use’ slideshow for the magnetic magic. Could be worth saving up for…

It should be mentioned that this magazine rack by Robert Bronwasser could easily double as a wine rack, and can be used horizontally or vertically. Or, if you so choose, stack of a few together to make a larger storage spot.
