Kola Chair

Can you believe this chair is under the $500 mark? With such a contemporary silhouette/shape, it would look at home pretty much any where. It’s a breath of fresh air to know there are modern seating options that won’t break the bank.

Also available in black.

Frame Pendant Lamps by Iacoli and McAllister

These bright frame lights from Seattle based Iacoli & McAllister provide a nice pop of color, don’t they? I know I just posted their Table Light the other day, but I’m liking their collection too much to let it fall by the wayside (or get lost in my bookmarks, which is often the case). Their Spica Light ($800) is pretty fantastic too, but I’ll save that for another day.

Enormous Moon Floor Cushion

Do you go crazy for moon-inspired products too? Are you close to losing it over this e-nor-mous floor cushion? If your home doesn’t have something crazy/nutty/childish, I think this would be good compromise. It’s the moon, in a floor cushion.

Huge, comfortable floor cushion with big thick moleskin-finish outer. Zipped.
Size 90cm x 50cm

Compass Trestle Legs

The best part about investing in a pair of trestle legs is that you can change out the top at any time, lending a new look to your home or office instantly. Go from glass to natural wood to a bright colored panel… lots of possibilities. These particular trestle legs are quite a bit pricier than the simple steel ones you can get from a hardware store (see Crawford or Fulton Sawhorse), but they are, of course, made of solid beechwood and have a little more elegance/refinement.

Adjustable height.

Menu Steam Tower

Similar to bamboo asian steamers, this tower can cook fish, meat, vegetables in the oven at the same time. Steaming preserves natural vitamins and minerals, so you’ll have a healthier meal too. A recipe book by Chef Morten Koster is included.

Ms. Treat Wallpaper

This luscious botanical wallpaper would sure spice up a small (or large?) room. The teaberry (shown above) is my favorite, but for $2 a sample you might want to try out the Heron and Pineland colorways as well. Also, the Ms. Ward design (shown below) is also worth a look, as there’s delightfully large storybook insects involved.

Available at Design Public or Grow House Grow.

Table Light by Iacoli & McAllister

This table light by Iacoli & McAllister is pretty adorable. Yes, I did say adorable, and I mean that in a modern-adorable way (think petite rather than ‘cute-as-pie’). You have your choice between a black or white steel shade and a black, red, or aqua textile cable cord set.

Lead time is currently 4 weeks.

What to do with the TV?

Today on desire to inspire Kim did a post on what to do with a television. It got me thinking about all the interior images I’ve saved and if any of them might help in figuring out the best place for that necessary beast.

And what did I find after looking through all of our tumblr and my personal desktop file? Only a sad few to add to desire to inspire’s picks. It seems that the way to go is to either hide it completely away or choose a designated spot and just deal with the fact it’s out in the open. Personally, that’s what I’ve done in my own home, and trust me, every once in a while I cringe when I notice what a big black hole of machinery it is… alas, one of life’s many compromises.

I’ve included a few photo picks from Kim’s post and a few that I found searching through my own stack of saved images. If you’ve got some to add, let me know.

Also, Scott from ideationdesigns.com wrote in to suggest/add that two other options are to hide a TV behind a one way mirror or put it behind some sheer or opaque drapery. He’s provided a couple of links:

Soufi Mat

Is anyone else suffering from these gray days of January-almost-February? I keep being drawn towards bright pops of colors, specifically yellows and reds (you might have noticed) just to shake off some of the dreary dampness. Naturally, this red rug with its Ottoman-inspired pattern caught my eye, and you’ll be glad to know it’s made from 30% recycled PVC, so it’s bright and durable. Just the thing to get us through to spring.
