You’ve probably seen this around on some of the design sites lately, but now you can buy it at Design Museum Shop. For those of you that are scratching your head, it’s a sturdy strap ‘seating device’ that allows you to sit down and rest without a normal seat or backrest. So, uh, in other words, it’s a strap. Could be handy to have, maybe?

Occasionally while scanning through websites I’ll come across similar products at very different prices and wonder just where the line gets drawn between affordable and expensive. For example, one of these pendant lights is $40 and the other is $400. Of course, they are different in obvious ways (one’s red and has an old school vibe, the other white and minimal), but for a simple pendant you have to wonder if the difference justifies the price discrepancy. As always, the consumer decides…

If your kitchen table doubles as a workspace (breadcrumbs in your laptop and wine stains on your papers) take note of this flexible table. You’d be surprised at how difficult finding a simple card case can be. Of course, I say that and then do a search and I find these other ones (below) that are in line with similar colors in a matte finish as well (though a little more expensive).

Check it, this guy is made from recycled vending machine coffee cups. Apparently the material feels sort of like natural slate and can be used inside or outdoors.

So, this little chair was launched in Milan this year and has now just hit the shelves, so to speak. Produced with the same blow molding technique used to manufacture water bottles, the hollow spaces of the chair are filled with high pressure air to strengthen the design. Plastic usage is minimal this way and the chair ends up weighing in around 1kg. The legs can be unscrewed from the shell as well.

Made of 100% PET (i.e. fully recyclable)

Chris Brigham is right. There aren’t too many options for elegant bike storage. So, what did he do? He went to his workshop and made something that fit his needs, and now he’s selling it to friends and strangers. Lucky us.

Home is where your doormat says it is. Simple enough.

Measures about 30″ x 18″.

Any guesses as to what exactly this is? Sure, it’s a sort of seating/table thing, but it also has an element of fun that’s not immediately apparent. It’s a reinterpretation of the rocking horse, made up modern and sleek. The engraved star pattern are actually machining lines which are left as a decorative element.

There’s also a version for kids, in either wood ($870.00) or resin ($125.00).
