When you need to check your ‘do and there’s no mirror around, this little pocket mirror could be just the thing to have in your wallet. Sort of brings to mind the whole comb-in-the-back-pocket sort of look, which could be a good or bad connotation depending on your preference. Mirror is made from plastic, which means it’s light and flexible.

I usually use our tumblr account to bookmark interior images, and because we’ve been crazy busy with the site remodel, I’ve been a bit remiss about occasionally posting some of the ones that stand out the most. Today I finally got a chance to go through some of my rss feeds, and found this image over at kbculture. I think it’s a pretty perfect example of how minimal design can have interest and warmth with the right use of materials- in this case, with the green glass backsplash and the wood accents. Radiating blades of plywood slats have the traditional ‘lamp’ silhouette while filtering the bright glare of a lightbulb into a nice soft glow, thus eliminating any need for a ho-hum lampshade. I particularly like how the wood will give an extra element of texture to a room.

These dvds are intended for a baby’s developing mind and vision, though if you take a look, you might find your very own self attracted to the black and white animations and accompanying music. Basic shapes move slowly and methodically while maintaining a sense of playfulness that borders between entertainment and meditation, which seems an unlikely sort of mix, but there you go. So, while this watch face is pretty fetching, what is especially notable is that it switches every half hour from white-on-black to black-on-white display. There’s also two modes, one for standard numerical digital and the other for a graphic hour clock. All in all, it might just be the perfect watch if you’re the sort that gets bored easily.

Take a look at this shelf: half wall sculpture and half functional storage object, it’s made from one flat sheet of metal which is then hand folded along perforated cuts, giving a stitched detail along the edges. There’s also two orientations you can use, which gives you an option to mix it up every so often.

House Industries is now taking deposits for the second edition of the Neutra Boomerang Chair. I’m sure you can see the boomerang-shaped veneered plywood frame, from which it gets its name, but for historical relevance you might be interested to know that Richard Neutra designed this chair for the interiors of the Channel Heights Housing Project (San Pedro, California) in 1942.

Just ran across this space by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec over on Daily Icon. A few Bouroullec objects are scattered throughout the apartment, of course, but especially interesting is the use of color in certain areas. While certainly the apartment has a simple and restrained feel, the color used in a few niches, walls and doors provides a focused ‘fun’ aspect that balances out the otherwise austere palette. More pictures below.
