For those of you familiar with the pros and cons of grilling acroutrements, you might want to check out these modern grilling skewers. Box Stool

Big Game is one to watch out for these days; they’ve got a great collection of home furnishings that’s both interesting and edgy (and not too terribly expensive). This stool is pretty simple, yet intriguing in that it borrows pleating techniques from the cardboard industry to make a foldable aluminum seat. Light and versatile, the Box stool has one hole in the center of the seat to make it easy to move around.

Designed by Big Game, produced by Moustache.
Material: Folded Lacquered Aluminium

Carbon Fiber Bag

If you need a heavy duty bag, check out this carbon fiber bag. It’s super light (under 3 lbs) but very sturdy, and, as an extra plus has that undercover/cool look about it. The briefcase (below) is also worth considering.

Pallet Chair and Table

Is anyone reminded of Studio Mama’s pallet furniture plans? If you were intrigued by the plans, but not the DIY type, you’ll be happy to see these, especially considering there are surface color options. When both table and chair are folded flat they can stack together for storage.

Aldo Bakker’s Copper Collection

Droog presented Aldo Bakker’s Copper Collection at Design Miami/Basel 2010 this year, and as usual, there’s plenty to admire. Made out of liquid copper using the time intensive lost-wax method (French name being cire perdu), this watering can is entirely seamless and has openings that ensure a perfect pour.

The copper mixing bowl (below) allows a reaction with protein, which Chefs recommend apparently, and of course, sits like a sculpture when not in use. The soy pourer is lined inside with 100% fine silver, which makes it perhaps the most elegant (and expensive) modern soy pourer in existence.

All pieces are limited and numbered in editions of 15.
Designed by Aldo Bakker for Thomas Eyck
Collection includes Watering Can, Mixing Bowl, Soy Pourer, Candle Dome

Can’t Have It? Stick It.

These stickers from Can’t Have It? Stick It. caught my eye. Take a look at the photo gallery to see the variety of placement options (especially for plants, which work surprisingly well in workspace areas). There’s also a good collection of life-size pets and furniture too, so if you can’t have the ‘real’ thing, you can fulfill your fantasies short term with the stickers.

Small stickers start at 4 euro.

Price: €4.00

Salvaged Staircase

Jan Korbes’s Garbage Architecture used the remnants of the antique floor and construction wood from the Schloss Wiesenburg to create this impressive staircase. Designed in the ‘shape of add-on boxes supporting itself as a constructed, empty beam’, it has the lightness of a floating staircase with the texture and history of the castle itself.

Built in cooperation with Judith van der Meer.

Tre Vase

Forgive me for saying so, but it seems like you don’t need a florist’s talent to make an arrangement in this vase look good. The very nature of the three ‘legs’ makes anything inside look like a sculptural focal point, which is good news to those that don’t have that artistic flair for flowers.

Designer: P.A.D. (Thomas Robertson and Eli Bonerz)
Available in Glossy Black, Clear and Opaque White.

Linzie Hunter Prints, Postcards

Originally seen on Brain Pickings, the work of Linzie Hunter caught my eye. Her typographic work is based on the subject lines of annoying spam emails, which she then takes and turns into amusing artwork. Talk about making lemonade out of lemons, she’s doing it.

Say Goodbye to Love Failures and Loneliness (shown above), 22″x17″, $200.00
(The 11″x8.5″ size at $20.00 is sold out unfortunately.)

You can also buy Linzie’s postcard book titled Secret Weapon: 30 Hand-Painted Spam Postcards at Amazon for $9.95. Images below.

FREE competition

We normally don’t post too many competitions, but in this case I think it’s worth it. Larimer + Bernheim is offering their design services free to whichever submission is the most compelling.
