Pascal Charmolu & Born In Sweden’s Watering Can

Hello, hello. Check out this snazzy watering can by Pascal Charmolu. A flexible hose ensures water goes where you want it while a magnet keeps the hose upright/attached when not in use. Clever.

The challenge with conventional watering cans? Ensuring water hits its target. They’re also generally utterly unsightly. French-born Pascal Charmolu came up with the antidote: This beautifully streamlined, practical design. Made of 18-0 stainless steel, this can features a flexible silicone hose with a built-in magnet that allows it to be attached to the can’s body when not in use… When watering your plants, simply hold the metal cylinder with one hand and the hose in the other. Move the metal cylinder up or down to cease water flow. Voila!

High & Dry Dishrack

Well, if you have to have a dishrack, why not have one inspired by architecture? Perhaps the most functional features are the spikes for narrow glasses and the flip up spout for optional drainage. Altogether it’s the most ‘modern’ dishrack out there.

A contemporary and highly functional dishrack inspired by architecture. The sculptural shape folds down to a flat compact shape for easy storage. The wave of spikes can be used to hold even your most delicate champagne glasses upright. There is a drainage tray which has an ingenious flip up spout so that you can chose to drain or not, depending on your kitchen set up.

– made from polypropylene and stainless steel
– removeable cutlery holder and draining tray
– individually boxed in unbleached cardboard
– 43.5 x 28.5 x 25cm (43.5 x 28.5 x 6cm when flat)

Jimmy McBride Galaxy Quilt

Sorry if you’ve seen this before, but Jimmy McBride’s quilts are ridiculously wonderful and it would be horrible if there wasn’t at least some small mention on our site. They almost inspire you to pick up some fabric and attempt at some space-inspired quilts of your own, right?

Prices seem to be around $1,750.00-$2,000.00 for a Child’s 38″ x 50″ Quilt*.

*I don’t know about you, but for that price, that sucker is going on a wall, not on a kid’s bed (unless they are very very cold, of course).

Monopod Chair by Jasper Morrison

On Jasper Morrison’s site, this chair is listed as made from “precision milled blocks of recycled wine-bottle corks” and upholstered in leather. It’s also noted as a limited edition, but I found no mention of that on the retail sites.

Jasper Morrison’s Monopod is a sculptural piece, vaguely reminiscent of primordial stone or wooden objects. The Monopod stands sturdily, tapering with an elegant curve to a wedge-shaped backrest. As a small visitor armchair, the Monopod is a companion for sofas and larger armchairs, and in public areas thanks to its solidity can be used in lounges and reception areas. The structure of the armchair, with its plastic shell upholstered on the inside means that the Monopod retains its precise shape even if used for lengthier periods and is very comfortable.

materials: polyethylene carcass, polyurethane foam seat and backrest upholstery.

Also available through here, but priced at $2,700.00.

Keyboard Brush

To add to the collection of slightly odd Housekeeping Brushes, this keyboard brush will certainly prompt you to keep those keys clean.

Contributing to the longevity of your keyboards is this clever brush with bristles of different lengths. The raised black bristles also look and feel like a large Braille message. Made in a former school for the blind, the company now employs blind people to produce these extraordinary and function brush items. Made in Germany.

Nature Planter

This planter has been making the rounds on all the blogs for good reason. The artichoke-like design provides quite a bit of gardening room all within a relatively small footprint. Might be perfect for your balcony or patio.

Nature is a modern ceramic planter intended for growing a variety of herbs and flowers. The form takes inspiration from patterns and shapes found in nature, hence the name. The largest opening at the top can hold plants that need to root deeper. Opening like a blossom, the form allows each pocket to collect water.

The planter is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
Size: 18″ tall and 22″ wide.

Naviglio Sofa

So, a while ago (back in ’07), I posted this sofa saying if I was filthy rich, I would buy it. Now, let’s fast forward to this past weekend, where I happen to be in London walking through a shop and saw this same sofa at 20% off. Even with the exchange rate, that’s roughly $2,200 off what it currently retails for in the US. I am not filthy rich (repeat that again), but I could not help but buy it. It’s modern, classic, comfortable, non-pet-hair-clingy, wine-spill-proof, and I love it. I vow to keep it, sit in and sleep on it at every available opportunity for as long as I shall live.

Stacked Paperback Wallpaper

Tracey Kendall’s paperback wallpaper will make you look like a bookworm on some serious performance-enhancing drugs. And who doesn’t want that? This would be spectacular in a small nook or a small room; you’d have your own instant haphazard library. Or, best idea yet, put this wallpaper at the back of your bookshelves, and voilà! you’re done. (Sort of similar to the Genuine Fake Bookshelf Wallpaper, except maybe a tiny bit better because of the color perhaps?)

Rhodia Mouse Pad Paper Pad

This has to have been done before somewhere by someone. A paper pad mousepad doesn’t take a lot to put together, after all. However, to be fair (and slightly contradictory) I am a fan of Rhodia notepads, so it’s awfully tempting to snap one of these up for myself. The lovely grid pad combined with the appropriately sized mousepad makes one less thing on the workspace surface (and that’s never a bad thing).

Use the note pad as a mouse pad, write notes on it while you use it. When you want to have a clean slate, just tear off the top sheet and start fresh.
There are 30 sheets of graph paper, with a grid size of 25 squares per square inch (quadrille 5/5 mm square).
