Designed by Wil Alsop and rugged at a glance, the Daytimer feels comfortable with its good fit on the wrist, while its 3D display naturally catches attention. Organic EL Display: The high-luminance organic EL display simply shows time, a date, and a day of the week. Graphic display starts by pressing the “A” button. 9 different graphics are displayed every time, followed by time and a day of the week. Architectural Design: This unique cubic style, like an architectural structure on the arm, was generated based on architectural methods to pursue a cubic object. The glass is made of acrylic.

Seeing as I’m mightily impressed by this shelving unit, you might be too. Morgan of The Brick House built this unit out of plumbing pipe and fittings for about $200 (and apparently a lot of frustration). Dwell recently featured the Freeman and Feldmann house in Houston, Texas. It’s got a good handful of ideas/resources and even if you’re not remodeling now, it might be worth taking notes for any future projects.

Last month I was lucky enough to make time for a quick getaway trip to Paris and I stayed at this little gem. The room was super small just like a ship’s cabin, yet the decor was soothing and well designed, which made the room seem cozy and comfortable (the bed gets 5 stars in my book as far as sleep comfort). Most of the places I wanted to visit was within easy walking distance or reachable by metro (a stop is about a 5 min. walk away), so all in all, it was a pleasurable experience. (Note: I didn’t try out the menu seeing I was intent on getting as many baguettes and cheeses into me as humanly possible, nor did I indulge in any of the ‘detox’ spa treatments. Next time…)

As a pet owner myself, I have to say this little pet carrier looks to have a handful of benefits over my existing plastic crates. Apologies for the crazy price linkage on this shelf system, but it took a while to figure out who had the correct listings and for the best price, and apparently there’s only one U.S. retailer (is that right?). Efficient minimalism, indeed. Made entirely of multi-ply bent laminated wood, this bed is just about as structurally sound as you can get with this sort of craftsmanship (while keeping the design aesthetic, of course). The smooth curves do echo Alpine sports, but I’d say it’s more reminiscent of a mid century design classic than ski equipment.

The frame is the first to be built almost entirely of bentwood, giving it both fluidity and strength. The bed was inspired by alpine sports like skiing and toboganning, where strength, lightness and a strong graceful structure are crucial. As in the aesthetic of Alpine sports, the Alpine Series bed embodies efficient minimalism and craftsmanship. Holy. Someone needs to make this in porcelain so the price can be a bit more approachable, but man, for those of us that like the traditional button tufting found in the ubiquitous Chesterfield sofas, it’s a lovely sight to behold. (Dare I say this light is even ‘cute’?)
