Vegetal Chair

Vegetal, Vegetable…whatever the name, pay attention to these five things: lightweight, sturdy, stackable, indoor/outdoor appropriate, and comfortable. The price point isn’t exactly the most affordable thing, but the chair is notable nonetheless.

Nature served as the inspiration for this chair’s organic design. Its plant-like structure is made from dyed recyclable polyamide using innovative injection-mold technology. Lightweight, sturdy, and comfortable, the chairs stack up to three high and are suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Hand-wash only. Made by Vitra.

Fresh Traveller

Now you can transport your breakfast cereal (or other fruits or foods) separately from your milk (or drink) and mix them whenever you want. I’d say it’d be perfect for milk and cookies, but I guess it’s not often that you want to take those with you…or maybe it is, what do I know.

Ikea PS Nybygge Shelving unit

Okay, so if this doesn’t give you some amount of hope for big box retailers (of the blue and yellow kind), then I don’t know what will. Maybe we’ll all become immune to this shelving unit’s charm after walking past it a bajillion times, but presently the staggered supports and overall look have me slightly swooning. $229, folks, $229…such a reasonable price for a pretty sizable bookshelf.

Klippan Billgren Wool Blanket

Oh my, are you not completely smitten with these blankets? I sure am; the only difficulty is choosing between them.

Over the years, Klippan’s designers have created new patterns that have been well appreciated and this year is no exception. This year Klippan asked Ernst Billgren to design an anniversay blanket to celebrate Klippan’s 15th year since they launched their first wool blanket using almost fogotten production techniques. Ernst Billgren is regarded as one of Sweden’s most treasured artists. He is also a member o fthe Swedish Art Academy since 1997. Unique in his diversity, his designs often reflect nature, mythology and national romanticism. The Billgren blanket an incredible work of art in itself, is available in Brown/Beige and Black/Grey 100% Wool .

Design House Stockholm Cloud Chair

Ooo, I remember seeing this years(?) ago, perhaps in its initial design phase, and being utterly disappointed that I couldn’t post it because it wasn’t available to purchase yet. Now it is, thankfully, though I’m sure it has been for some time and I just missed it. Please take note that the chair adjusts to each person’s comfort; the seat becomes the back and vice versa depending on the angle of recline you prefer.

Lisa Widén’s idea to create the Cloud chair was born sitting on an airplane looking down at the clouds below. The thought of being able to lounge around on soft and fluffy clouds inspired her to create this soft, comfy and playful upholstered easy chair with a black metal support frame. The Cloud chair is easily adjustable, meaning that the seat can become the back support and vice versa. This enables everyone, regardless of height or size, to find their own favorite position.

Trace Paper/Pen Holder

A place for everything and everything in its place…that’s what comes to mind when admiring this lovely trace paper holder. Even if you don’t use tracing paper, it does look like a very nice catch-all for desk items.

“The ubiquitous roll of trace has long adorned architects’ desks. As ours inevitably wound up in a drawer, only to succumb to marks and tearing, we had in our minds that there should be a better place for such an important tool. The result is Place for Trace.” – Straight from the mouths of New York City-based, O’Brian Muehleisen Architecture Studio, who have designed this simple yet ingenious wood trace holder for architects.

Able to hold a standard roll of trace, with room for up to 15 pens and pencils.
Available in four finishes: Walnut, Cherry, Oak or Maple

Little Crush Table lamp

Coated in matte black rubber, a crushed soda bottle is transformed into a sculptural lamp base. (I’m sure the touch of gold on the inside of the lamp upgrades the look a bit too…if the shade was white it wouldn’t look as luxe.)

Each Little Crush table lamp is made using a reclaimed PET bottle and coated in matt black rubber.

The Splice Coffee Table by Umbra U+ Collection

It could be argued that splayed legs of this ‘broken’ coffee table might cause some bruised or broken toes, but perhaps the novelty and magazine storage overshadow that particular concern.

The splice coffee table’s “broken” appearance has a functional aspect – its V-shaped base is perfect for storing magazines. Featuring a 12mm tempered glass top tinted smoke gray. Base created from solid Canadian maple with a satin charcoal finish, by traditional woodworkers in St. Jacob’s, Ontario.

Music Balloon

It really makes my day when something currently only available on an undecipherable Japanese site suddenly shows up on a US or UK site. It’s a wonderful little thing that makes the world seem entirely less complicated. So, shall I present to you the Music Balloon? Some of you might have seen this on the other blogs a while back, but now (if you don’t read Japanese) you can buy it from a UK shop.

It’s not really a balloon, it’s a plug in speaker for your iPod / MP3 player.
Simply plug in and play.
This sponge foam speaker reminds us of 80’s TV presenter microphones and will happily sit on a desk or hanging out of a pocket while you play your tunes or check the latest podcasts.
Now you can cycle without headphones, irritate people on the bus and tube and share new music with friends without untangling headphone wires.

M’ovo Folding Table by Lapalma

While this does have a certain ironing-board feel to it, the promise of being able to easily shift from table to table-being-vertically-stored has a certain allure. For the price, I’d expect it to move from one position to the other extremely smoothly.

m’ovo table can be transformed by an easy movement: a second leg unfolds while the top is lowered to horizontal position. the solid oval base has concealed wheels so that the table can be shifted easily before use. when the flip-top is down, the wheels are lifted up and the base is stopped.
