Galactic LED Clock

Here’s another hard-to-read time telling device to add to the ever expanding list. (I post this as more of a novelty item than a truly useful one.)

The Galactic LED clock looks as if it was taken straight from the bridge of the starship enterprise. The clock in the picture reads 12:34. 1 – 2 -3 – 4 ….clever huh? The clock can be set to change the time display every second, every minute, or every 4 seconds. there are three brightness levels that can be set by the user. The clock uses the latest LED technology, which means that the lights will last indefinitely. The clock is available in black or silver and can be wall mounted or freestanding. It measures 10-1/4″ x 3″ x 1″ deep and operates off of the included AC plug-in adapter.

Alt Mugs

These are a little late in being featured, but better late than never, right? It seems like one of these would be a perfect small gift for a co-worker/friend.

Each of these mugs has been subtly altered to give them added and unusual functionality, not limiting what you can put in a mug to tea or coffee. what about milk? or money? or golf balls?! Our Alt Mugs cleverly and subtley change the function of the humble mug to give it a new twist, a new lease of life – people have been drinking out of mugs for millions of years, it’s time for a muggy revolution! Range of 4 mugs to collect, each with a different use; ashtray, money box, milk jug, or golf practice mug.

Penny Floor

I’m sure I’ve seen or heard of this before, but these pictures are worth a look. Notcot did a post on The Standard Grill’s (left) floor with some commentary (including a how-to and legal tender issues) that led to a link of Paul Smith’s boutique (right) in Paris with the same idea on the walls.

Zucch Sugar Pourer

This might quickly become a favorite amongst you add-sugar-to-coffee types…I’d say it’s much more dignified (and possibly less wasteful) than those tiny paper packets every day.

Made of double-walled glass, this stylish sugar dispenser has a wide hole in the top for pouring and a hole with a rubber stopper in the bottom for refilling. Made by Alessi. Hand-wash only. Sugar not included.

Designed by Lisa Vincitorio, 2008.

Magnetic Doorstopper

If you have wooden doors this isn’t nearly as handy, but nevertheless, having the option of sticking the doorstop to something metal so it’s out of the way seems entirely appealing.

Made of rubber, this utilitarian doorstop is imbedded with a magnet, allowing it to be stuck on a metal door or any magnetic surface when not in use.

Size: 5h x 1w x 1″d

Slanted Mug

With my luck, I’d spill this on the way to the chair/sofa, or while pouring the beverage.

We’ve all done it! Precariously placed a glass or mug containing our favorite beverage on our lap, only to have it spill on our clothes, not to mention our favourite chair. This mug’s uniquely shaped base allows you to nest it easily and securely in your lap. Available in orange, cream, light blue and mint green.

Petit Dejeuner Breakfast Tray

Now, this is what I’m talking about, a simple improvement to a standard product makes it exceptional. Why have an ordinary breakfast tray when you can have this one with a built-in vase? (Note: breakfast in bed is a luxury with or without flowers, just want to make that absolutely clear. Also, if your answer to the previous question was ‘because it costs $100’…fair enough, fair enough.)

Mañana Floor Lamp by Design House Stockholm

This lamp has the same sort of feeling as the Made by Eimear Mirror, no? It’s sort of within reach price-wise as well.

A stick figure drawing from one of Marie-Louise Gustafsson’s sketch-books took on the form of a floor lamp, with its body leaning against the wall.

Mañana means tomorrow in Spanish and the lamp’s laid-back, nonchalant attitude totally communicates chill-out, take it easy, stay cool. The lamp is lacquered in graphite grey to emphasize the feeling of a pencil sketch and has a turnable steel plated lampshade with a large globe bulb to give the feeling of a face.

Cork Cutting Boards

Here’s a slight summer sale on some cork cutting boards. As you probably already know, cork is a renewable resource, so it’s a smart and friendly sort of material to use for all sorts of things.

We love these cork cutting boards for chopping and as presentation platters. Made from durable, high-density cork, the surface is resistant to wear. Cork is slip-resistant and lightweight, and it cushions knife blades and keeps them sharp.

Small: 8.5″ long x 6″ wide, $12.00 $9.60
Medium: 12″ long x 8″ wide, $22.00 $19.60
Large: 14″ long x 10″ wide, $28.00 $25.60

Bella Rifatta stacking chair

Kool-Aid colors make these stacking chairs seem fit for summer. Take note that they are recycled plastic, which gives them double points.

Meaning “resurrected beauty”, the Bella Rifatta stacking armchair is the product of William Sawaya’s three-year experiment with reused plastics and injection-molding technology.
