Goodness gracious, these pockets are just about the best idea in gardening indoors and out. The gigantic installations shown on larger walls (not shown) are pretty amazing, but I think I’d be happy with one of the smaller Woolly Wallies (lower left) just to get some greenery indoors in a novel (and leak-proof) way. Two sizes in one plus a handful of fun colors to choose from…

This is a trivet for small pots and for large pots in one! All you need to do is turn it inside out and you’ll flip it from the small one to the big one. Made out of silicone, it is not just very durable; it also keeps the color perfectly and adds just the right flexibility to make the flipping an easy task. The diameter of the inside version is 7″ or 18 cm and the outside diameter is 9.4″ or 23,7 cm, so just the right difference.

If you are building or remodeling a house, you might consider incorporating vertical planting to provide shade in the warmer months. As this project by Cox Bulleid Architects shows, you don’t need a lot of land to have a good amount of greenery, though it should be said to take care in making sure there are structural supports for any weight of large screens/mesh with plantings and soil.

Who needs numbers to tell the time? Certainly not anyone who has this word clock.

The clock consists of two adjacent rolls, contained in a clear acrylic tube. A red mark indicates the line that should be read to tell the time. The left roll spells out five minute increments of time. The right roll contains the numbers one to twelve, spelled out. The gearing is such that as the minutes turn to “twenty-five minutes to,” the hour roll advances.
