I’m addicted to houzz, which is chock-full of home design photos. I’ve started a bltd ideabook that’s not centered on any idea (sorry), it’s just my favorites so far. It looks like it would be a great place to gather and sort your inspiration photos to share with others.

You might have seen this idea before, but to those of you who haven’t, how good does this unpainted stair runner look? I think it adds interest to the all-white interior, and makes sense as far as wear and tear.
AT did a post on painted stair runners discussing options and durability issues. Be sure to check their comments for reader suggestions.
(Forgive me for not including the source on this photo; I can’t remember where I found it.)

So, the new Kindle looks pretty sleek. I’m debating on whether or not the convenience would outweigh any loyalty I have to actual paper pages. It would be nice to carry a slim device instead of the 4 to 5 books I take with me when I travel, but then again, maybe I’m not ready to shell out $350 for an electronic gadget. Hmm…
Slim: Just over 1/3 of an inch, as thin as most magazines
Lightweight: At 10.2 ounces, lighter than a typical paperback
Wireless: 3G wireless lets you download books right from your Kindle, anytime, anywhere; no monthly fees, service plans, or hunting for Wi-Fi hotspots
Books in Under 60 Seconds: Get books delivered in less than 60 seconds; no PC required
Improved Display: Reads like real paper; now boasts 16 shades of gray for clear text and even crisper images
Longer Battery Life: 25% longer battery life; read for days without recharging
More Storage: Take your library with you; holds over 1,500 books

Greenworks modular mobile plant wall at ICFF was definitely one of my favorite new products to hit the marketplace. Super lush plants thrive on a self-automated watering system, making for easy care in your home or office. (Plants are not included in the price listed; choice of plants are bought locally and customized to fit each customer.)
Because of the density of plants this wall is a health-bringing and superior alternative to traditional pots that are common at offices and in other public spaces. The intense growing allowed by this plantwall system gives the impression of a dynamic and vidid surrounding, a company caring for their employees or a prosperous business. The integrated self-automated watering and nutrition system makes the plantwall very easy to maintain.
Developed by Lisa Wacklin and Per Berglund
$2,800.00 per module, Buy it at Greenworks.
(With plants, the estimated total price is around $4,000 or $5,000.)

Yes, they’re a bit expensive, but they’re entirely cute (in a tchotsky-esque sort of way).
This artisan iterpreted the classic western movie characters “IL Cattivo” the bad and “IL Buono” the good with a look to 60’s craft.

I love the look of this so so much (such fun!).
How can one design a settee which satisfies the requirements of the majority of users? Different people have different physiognomies. And then there is the subjectivity of taste. CONFLUENCES is a ‘reconciliatory’ settee, since it draws its inspiration from such differences. CONFLUENCES attempts to supply an answer to an ergonomic problem, and in this way becomes a playground for plastic forms and colours in many shade variations. -Ligne Roset

(Apologies for the trouble in no pricing…it’s a new product so info isn’t readily available yet and I like it too much to wait.)

Vintage suitcases with a sense of humor…such fun.
Vintage suitcase completely restored by hand. Sonia Verguet brings a touch of humour and novelty by adding an axe shape relief to the front of the case. This is a vintage suitcase, irregularities may appear that contribute to the charm of the product!

MIO’s Jaime Salm and Stephen Cooke utilize particleboard in this smart storage cabinet.
Much of today’s contemporary furniture incorporates hollow-core materials covered by various veneers. In direct contrast to these pieces is Naked Line, a cabinet that proudly reveals the sustainable materials we have come to hide. Taking advantage of the color, texture and cost efficiency of formaldehyde-free particleboard, this cabinet represents a naked and honest approach to affordable furniture. Made from 100 percent pre-consumer waste wood, this piece has sturdy sliding doors and back panels made from powder-coated steel.

This chair at first appears to balance only on its front legs. Clever.
A chair that integrates shadow into its structure…At first glance it is a simple chair that seems to defy gravity by standing upright while only having two front legs, but on closer inspection the shadow is part of the chair and made from steel, which is attached to a metal frame built inside the chair. It looks like an ordinary paper bag, right? But it’s not; it’s weatherproof cotton. Better make sure your friends and family know to keep it away from the recycling pile.
Each carryall is hand-constructed in Canada from 100% cotton which has been treated with a special oil and wax glaze, making it weatherproof for everyday carrying. The Brave Brown Bag is lightweight, looks and folds like its classic paper ancestor, but has remarkable strength.

I think I would be inspired to write something too if I had this for a studio, even if it was only just ‘how freaking awesome is this house’ over and over again. Check out residential architect online for product specifications and credits.
A dark, quiet, enigmatic shape in the woods, this building responds to a very simple program. โIt’s mostly about reading and writing, watching the fire, and listening to music,โย says Wendy Evans Joseph, FAIA, LEED AP. But in simplicity there is power, and Joseph’s distilled forms and highly tuned surfaces imbue familiar elements with iconic force. Our judges noted the deft handling of walnut in building assemblies and sculptural custom furnishings. -(bruce d. snider)
