Wheelbench

Such a smart idea (if only it was a tad more affordable…).

A mobile bench, made of ecologically preserved Accoya wood with a built-in wheelbarrow wheel. The surprising combination of familiar elements strengthens the active ‘exterior feel’ of the bench.
Rogier Martens on the Wheelbench: “Moving a bench with two people has always been a chore… This is a bench you can easily manoeuvre into position. The eye-catching wheel is an invitation to find the best spot. An invitation to be active, to create your world the way you want it, time and again.”

Designer: Rogier Martens
Dimensions: 215 x 45 x 70 cm

Numbered Edition Linens

I’ve posted Heather Lins’ work before (Eye Chart Pillow), but I had no idea about the linens available.

Heather Lins’ inspiration comes from examining the ordinary. Her collections are based on vintage typography, eye charts, and conversation bubbles–images that are instantly identifiable but unexpected when found loafing on the sofa or adorning the dining room table. Each design is a balance of artisan production techniques, modern design, and wit.

Volcanoes (Vessels)

The artist Emogayu creates each vessel by hand, so no two are exactly alike.

Emogayu, who is originally from Japan, hand-crafted a series of vases and bowls for us called ‘Volcanoes’; Inspired by the natural energy of flowing lava and the way it captures a moment in time forever. Her hopes are that whoever owns her work will not treat them as ‘objects’ but will allow the energy of their space to flow freely through them. Volcanoes have a number of uses whether for displaying fresh cut flowers, climbing plants, holding a votive candle or for containing your small keepsakes. Each piece is truly one of a kind.

Traditional folk design cropped and updated with a softer palette…absolutely lovely.

Folk emerges from this recovery of the origins and ornamental culture. The collection incorporates floral motifs and borders as a representation of ancestral themes. Inspired by stools used in the Brazilian countryside, designer Flavia Pagotti Silva created this contemporary seat. In Portuguese, “bate-papo” refers to an informal conversation between friends. This low, comfortable stool, made of four plywood disks attached to the chair’s frame through ball joints is meant to be used casually and as additional seating in informal settings. Made of plywood, ball joints, recycled rubber, and metal tubing. Size: 14h x 14l x 14″w

Mocho Stool, $550.00 ($495.00 Members), Buy it here.

The Mocho Stool, an update on the traditional milkmaid’s stool used throughout Brazil, is made of a solid hardwood frame, a single-lathed hollowed seat, and three lathed legs. A handle is incorporated into the design of the stool’s seat, making it easy to transport from place to place. Made of eucalyptus wood.

Billy Morrissette’s SoHo loft

Apologies if you look at the The New York Times as much as I do, but they have some of the most interesting slideshows of interiors and I can’t help but post them. Case in point is Billy Morrissette’s SoHo loft: I especially love the plywood used for the kitchen cabinets/walls.

Caillou table light

Beautiful, right? It’s also rechargable, which means no unsightly cords to get in the way of all that lovely light. It also costs a pretty penny, so be prepared.
