I involuntarily gasped when I saw the String Light by Patrick Townsend are now available in black. Does that make me a dork? Maybe, but I don’t care. I’m in love with a light.

At first glance, the Patrick Townsend String Light looks industrial and exposed, with variably sized light bulbs protruding from powder coated aluminum casings, dangling at random from a black cord. Plug in this dimmable light fixture and the String Light assumes an entirely new aura. The white bulbs and unexpected red bulb glow with a whimsical and refreshing energy. Illuminating a room has never been so interesting.

So, ever since seeing the photo (taken by Debi Treloar) of this bed (in Studio Ilse’s 661 london road project), I’ve been a little obsessed with finding cobalt blue sheets and perhaps taking on the task of adding a wall mural somewhere in my home. While I have had absolutely no luck in finding the sheets (it’s apparently impossible*), there are quite a few wall mural sources online.

Surface View, which is perhaps the most entertaining, has a large image collection along with a snazzy ‘see in room’ option where you get to see your selected image as a mural, window blind or canvas art (see upper right photo). There’s also Murals Your Way which has what looks to be a decent brick wall and some other stuff worth considering. My personal favorite is the Galaxy mural wall paper (shown lower right) from designyourwall.com. They also have a nice bamboo forest wallpaper that could be nice in a powder room or something.

Is that enough to get you started mural-wise? Any other good links, let me know and I’ll add them.

*To the first person who finds a cobalt sheet set in queen size (thread count ~300, available online from a US, Canada, or UK store), I will send you a handmade card as thanks…and maybe something else too.

Hmm, this reminds me of the Just a Moment Clock in theory. The black discs are nice in that you can position them however you’d like.

I’ve pretty much forgotten all about poetry since leaving college and its various literature courses, but these few books have reminded me just how lovely a small collection of musings can be. I won’t even begin to dissect or analyze any of them, because I’m certainly not qualified, but I will say I enjoyed looking through each of them. Also, be sure to check out Wave Books’ erasure site (in relation to A Little White Shadow, see below), where you can create your own erasures. It’s sort of fun.
