Summer Porcelain Cup Set

Seeing as the summer is drawing to a close, it’s time to savor those evenings sipping refreshments. Why not do it in style from hand sculpted black and white etched cups? (Of course, it takes little investigative work to see these would be more appropriate for a discerning collector than in a child’s hand…)

Spot the odd one out! Painting the interior of one of the cups yellow, Rosaria Rattin sees no rules in ceramic design; she approaches each porcelain surface as if boldly printing fabric. Each cup is delicately sculpted and etched by hand, creating lines and shapes with individual character. Set of six assorted porcelain cups with a hint of lemon.

Tau See-saw

How fun does this look? If you’ve got kids, now’s your chance to buy this see-saw, though I’d recommend deducting it from their allowance. It’s never too early to learn fiscal responsibility, right?

Here, clever design, playful learning and the pride of building something yourself are combined. Shipped flat, the Tau See-saw components are pieced within the sheet of wood from which the parts were cut; the parts “unclip” from the template and are easily assembled by an adult. Should your child outgrow the toy, it can be disassembled and the parts clipped back into the sheet for storage.

Materials: Birch veneer
Children 3 years+
Meets all European standards for child safety.

Village Cuckoo Clock

Some trends come and go, but it’s a pretty sure bet cuckoo clocks are here to stay. This white one has some great detailing that’s sure to add some character to whatever room you put it in.

“This modern cuckoo clock is artfully detailed in white washed wood and comes complete with stag head decoration, pine cone weights, swinging pendulum, and a cucoo bird that emerges on the hour to flap its wings and make its call. This nostalgic remake is quartz battery powered with an on/off option for the electronic cuckoo call. A charming tribute to its European origins. Uses 2 D batteries (not included).”

Brillo Toothbrush Travel Set

Check it out- this toothbrush flicks open like a switchblade and has a nice leather carrying case so you can travel in style.

A journey by plane, train or automobile might not be the swift and sexy ride it once was, but that doesn’t mean we can’t at least make a stylish effort. The Brillo toothbrush by Chaki Murata for Metaphys in Japan is the perfect antidote. The ergonomically compact form acts like a switchblade, the brush head flipping out of the body with just a flick. When not in use, slip it into the well-constructed leather case. Ready for gifting, each black box comes equipped with three replacement brushes. The black brush holder comes with a white case; the white holder’s case is natural.

Tam Tam Stools

The Tam Tam Stool is pretty much a classic, and at $48 you can afford to splurge on a few if the mood strikes you.

Originally introduced by designer Henry Massonnet in 1968, this minimal stool was an instant hit because of its versatility, comfort, ease to carry and snap together. An iconic photo of the very iconic Brigitte Bardot on a Tam Tam elevated the stool to cult accessory. Today, the Tam Tam is made in the same French factory using the same mold that gave rise to the original version. Collect all colors, or mix candy brights with futuristic metallics. Or punch up a room with the graphic silhouette of a single stool in a contrasting color. Tam Tam is terrific.
