Tropics Dining Table with Trestles

The legs on this table look identical to the Multi Table I posted a while ago, but this picture (or maybe the high gloss top) puts it into perspective. Plus, there’s the option of ‘Golden Trestles’ (which, if you say aloud, sounds like some type of candybar or fantasy land).

“Dine or work in style, times infinity with our Tropics Table. An easy, modern solution that’s ultimately versatile, allowing you to customize any dining nook, work area or home office over and over. Sleek and rectangular, the Tropics Table comes in 3 options.”

Color and Leg combinations: Chocolate with Golden Trestles, Zebrano Wood with Chromed Trestles, High Gloss Walnut with Chromed Trestles

Trophy Hangers by Phil Cuttance

An altogether new take on the trophy trend…

“The concept is quite obvious, traditional animal trophies are a pretty ridiculous thing, so Phil’s hangers turns the trophy notion on its head, well actually on its butt… Whichever animal you choose, it always comes in a set of 2 – with every front bit you will get the rear as well. They are made out of poly resin and are 7 cm wide and 11 cm high (2.75″ x 3.5″) and extend out roughly 3″ or 8 cm.”

Rochelle Sofa by Gus Design

With definite roots in mid-century design, this sofa has some rather nice detailing with the exposed wood and button-tufting.

‘Solid wood legs elevate this Gus Modern couch off the ground, effecting a unique “floating” look. The wood detailing extends up the back of the sofa for a striking visual accent. Button-tufted fabric upholstery achieves a pleasing loft for hours of relaxation, while a tight back eliminates the need to continually arrange and tidy loose cushions.’

Ice Cream

Much like the other ‘Cream’ books, this looks to have loads of interesting artists. I’ve not looked through this one yet, but it looks promising.

“Continuing the phenomenon established by cream (1988) Fresh Cream (2000) and Cream 3 (2003), Ice Cream identifies the most significant emerging figures in an often confusing world and acts as an expert guide to future trends – Each artist is featured over four pages with a selection of their most interesting work together with a commentary by the curator who selected them, an exhibition history, and a bibliography”

Sydney Lounge Chair

While this is categorized as a lounge chair, it looks like more of a ‘chaise lounge’ to me. But, hey, they’re selling it for $250, so they can call it whatever they want.

Outdoor safe.

Carbon Chair (2004)

If you’ll look closer at this chair, you’ll see there’s no metal frame…it’s completely hand coiled from 100% carbon fiber and epoxy. As Bertjan Pot explains, “Every point on the rim of the chair is connected with all 4 points where the seat is connected to base-frame.”

‘Carbon Chair of Bertjan Pot and Marcel Wanders speaks of dedicated craftsmanship in connection to high tech materials and the material expertise only possible by personal excitement, passion and the love of “enlighted amateurs”.’

(Spherical) Bird Houses

Such a perfect modern home for our feathered friends…

“Designers Gavin Christman and Kate Knapp created the Bird House as a response to the disappearing habitats of small North American birds. Its understated spherical design and small entry hole make it impervious to the advances of squirrels and other predators, and it’s sized to offer a safe nesting spot for blue tits, coal tits and marsh tits. The Bird House comes in recyclable packaging and includes stainless steel brackets and all the necessary hardware.” Diameter 7″

Wood Rings and Hooks

With modern items usually leaning towards the polished and lacquered look, something like these wood rings and hooks would be a natural contrast (either in a room or upon the body).

Rings, $30 ea.:“The finger rings are created from hardwood tree branches and are finished with marine-grade polyurethane to make them water resistant and more durable…Because the rings are handcrafted, the sizes are approximate, but we can come pretty close.”

Hooks, $30 ea.:“Handcrafted from Maple, Beech or Birch or other hardwoods grown in Jacksonville, Vermont, these Timber products are individually unique. The wood is cut, naturally dried for 24 months and then crafted into its final shape. No two pieces are exactly alike, but the size of most of these Timber items can be customized to fit your particular needs.”
