I’d seen this talked about, but it’s not until now that I’ve seen it actually available for purchase (‘purchase’ in the sense of able to order it- it’s out of stock until mid May, but you can preorder now to make sure your name’s down when they’re back in).

Kohler Karbon Faucet

Kohler’s promoting their new Karbon Faucet, which looks to be pretty impressive.

“With its clean, crisp lines, the Karbon articulating faucet introduces a new geometry of versatile functionality to the kitchen. Intelligently engineered to hold any pose for hands-free operation, Karbon allows you to streamline your work surfaces and workflow. You can extend the faucet fully to fill large pots, lower it into the sink for food preparation and cleanup, fold it compactly out of the way when not in use, or position it anywhere in between. “

Price: $925.00-$1250.00

Surfboard Cocktail Table

While I’m not quite sure what this table is made of, it does have the interesting (rough?) three-legged base that contrasts nicely with the rounded/oblong glass top.

Magnetic Leaves

Look at these- anywhere a magnet sticks can be immediately transformed into a surface covered with leaves(!).

“Wouldn’t it be nice to add a little more green in your house without all the fuss of watering. Each of these leaf shaped magnets is made of soft plastic. Imagine the impact you could create on appliances, file cabinets….Sold separately.”

Sunset Cabin by Taylor_Smith Architects

Of course the fascination with smaller homes and get-aways continues, mostly due to architects creating cabins just like this. The first sentence quoted below leaves me terribly excited about the future.

“It is a one-room (190 square feet in size), self-contained box that was built by furniture craftsmen in four weeks in a Toronto parking lot and installed on site in 10 days.
Three of the exterior walls are floor-to-ceiling glass and of those, two are encased in horizontal cedar-screens for privacy, shade and light effects inside. One of the cedar screens has a large opening providing a direct view of the sunset from the built-in bed. The rest of the screen has random smaller gaps to allow various vignettes of the surrounding nature and to create fantastic light patterns inside. The slats are positioned so that there is no direct view in from the outside, but at the same time, it the inside feels almost wall-less.”

Tepee (from DWR)

A Tepee? Really?…Uh, okay, I guess if you’ve got the money, why not have the perfect space to get away and be by yourself, or take your friends/family and tell stories or something?

“For adventurers of all ages, the classic Tepee (2008) is a simple solution for spending time outdoors with minimal impact on the surrounding landscape. This one was crafted for DWR Tools for Living by Dave Ellis…We chose his work because of his quality materials and construction that provides proper ventilation, flame resistance and reinforced stress points. What’s also unique about this design is the sewn-in floor liner that allows proper air flow, while ensuring that nothing accidentally leaves or enters the Tepee…The exterior canvas is tightly woven, preshrunk 100% cotton Army Duck that’s finished with a Sunforger baked-in process to make the canvas mildew resistant and water repellent. Campfire songs and ghost stories not included.”

Lamp/Lamp by Hironao Tsuboi

We posted this about a year ago and I had forgotten all about it, which maybe means you did too.

“It’s hard to think of a light source as mundane as the naked bulb…. but, in a surprising twist, the Lamp/Lamp gives it a new and delightfully absurd personality by simply adding an extra socket.”

3.75″W x 3″L x 2.25″H

Update: A representative from DARK says “this is initially designed by Davy Grosemans. DARK took this lamp in collection in 2003 (Davy designed it in 2002). 4 years before Hironao ‘designed’ this.” Hmm.

Price: $39.00

5’x8′ Elements Rug

This rug has a completely acceptable price tag (which is always pleasantly surprising).

“Toe the line with whorls, arches and ridges that ID abstract thumbprints. Neutral graphic in plush 100% bikaner wool handtufted in multi-tones of ivory, beige, dark brown.”

Bauhaus Arc & Twiggy Floor Lamp

While these two floor lamps are quite similar in idea, they are entirely different in how the design is actually executed. For those on a budget, the Bauhaus (shown at top) will make do just fine, and the extra bells and whistles that the Twiggy (at bottom) sports is not quite worth the extra $1800. But, those of you that appreciate the finer things, the Twiggy is impressive in quality and detail- take a look at its credentials and see which one might fit you best.

Bauhaus Arc Floor Lamp:
“Arc de triomphe in top to bottom all metal, all white. Pedestal iron base rises off-center, then swoops to high light over seating, bed, dining. Shade is a major surprise in smooth aluminum; exposed butterfly nut (white [or olivine] of course) pivots shade to direct the beam. On/off foot switch.”

59″Wx15.25″Dx80″H, $199.00, Buy it here.

Twiggy Floor Lamp:
“The Twiggy is characterized by a thin, elegant and sophisticated design. Flexibility is the word for Twiggy; flexibility of the material which defines the ample and essential curve of the arm that carries the light source far from the base, in the possibility of adjusting the height of the shade thanks to a system of counterweights, and in the possibility of adjusting the length of the arm with a set of extensions (sold separately).”

Twiggy is available in four color choices: red, black, white or yellow. Made from a compound material with a fiberglass base. Bottom diffuser shields direct view of lamps.

Dimensions 67″L X 77″ – 85″H; 18″D shade, $2,022.00, Buy it here.

Terra Stool by Roost

The thick wood on top of such (seemingly) spindly iron legs makes for an interesting little stool/table.

“Made from renewable acacia wood atop three sturdy, hand-forged iron legs, these quirky pieces make rustic stools or side tables. Some checking (radial cracking) to be expected. Some assembly is required.”

Medium: 12 1/2″ dia x 18 1/2″ h, $150.00

FlyLite (Remote Wardrobe Manager)

If you’re a frequent flyer and hate lugging your luggage around, there’s a service made especially for you. FlyLite will store items you frequently travel with in your own private ‘iCloset’, where you can drag and drop items you need for your next trip into your virtual suitcase, which will then be delivered (via real suitcase) to your hotel, “fresh, clean and ready to go.” Once you’re finished and ready to move on to another city, you give them a call and they’ll arrange for your suitcase to be picked up and returned, where your items will be cleaned and stored for next time. Luggage free travel sounds good, right? Of course it does: no waiting around the baggage carousel, no standing in lines to check in, not to mention less trips to the dry cleaners…all of that sounds spectacular, which is why it’ll cost you $100 per trip.

Heavy Guy #1

We’ve posted the Lightweight and ‘Heavy Guy’ Chandelier (which is also currently one of our banner images) by Mischa Vos, and surprisingly somehow missed this little wall light. It’s incredibly minimal (and affordable too).

“Subtle and sophisticated, the weight of a single, naked bulb is held suspended in air by a thin, steel rod. Simply adjust the length of the cord to create a beautifully curved line. A crisp, clean look in a captivating, contemporary form.”

Materials: Steel rod, Wire, 40W bulb
