Bernard Sofa, Chair

I don’t know why it seems that the simpler modern sofas are more expensive, but I think something like this would be worth the price.

“BERNARD has a soft, generous seat depth and the gently reclining back provides a luxurious sit. Manufactured using a solid beech frame and upholstered with dacron wrapped foam cushions, the range comes in 2 and 3 seaters, a corner unit and chair. Available with either a stainless frame or a straight leg version. The chair is also available as a more compact version with a powder coated swivel base.”

‘Damn the Man’ by Henry Reeve

If you’d like to own some original stencil style graffiti art but can’t afford the art star(s), you’re in luck. This one is affordable as far as art goes, and the ‘spray-paint-plus-English-portrait’ is interesting and has just enough edginess.

“Henry’s spray art is a send up of classical English portraiture…Henry Reeve Designs and hand cuts each stencil, and then applies and sprays each one himself. For 66degrees.com, this small edition of 20 images will be applied to high quality artist’s paper…Each edition will ship with a certificate of authenticity, numbered and signed by the artist.”

Inglas Deko Wilder Wein

Looking through architonic, I happened across this glass. It looks amazing- wish there was an up close picture to show the 3d effect…

“An award was made to Inglas Deko Wilder Wein for its special decorative properties. This , laminated safety glass with integrated decorative material consists of two thermally pre-stressed sheets of glass, with processed tendrils of Virginia creeper in the bonding area. In order to create the effect of space (3D effect) the tendrils of creeper are positioned at different levels of the bonding area. Typical applications for Inglas Deko Wilder Wein are shower partitions, partition walls, table tops and furniture sections.”

Origami Side Table

This is my favorite find of the week, if not a contender for this month. It has an affordable price tag as well as being designed in a smart way (for the reasons listed below), and- probably most importantly- it looks really sharp.

“Composed of two laser-cut and slotted sheets of steel, the Origami tables ship flat and require no tools or hardware to assemble. One sheet is the negative of the other, which eliminates waste during production and gives the tables a balanced, yet dynamic, form. The petal-like surfaces are sturdy and spacious, making a practical and sculptural side table, night stand or plant stand.”

Made in the USA from locally sourced steel
Colors: Red, White, and Black

Moebius Table

I have seen this before, but it wasn’t until I saw it in a room setting did I fully appreciate the detail of the base. It’s really a beautiful table, and even though it has a higher price tag it might be a good time to take the plunge and add something to your collection that you’ll most likely appreciate for years and years.

“The beautifully grained base flares and narrows in six arcs, creating a look of poised animation. Each upright is accented by brass hardware and is the balance point for the 3/4″ glass top. Reminiscent of the iconic Noguchi Table, the Moebius is a classic in its own right, blending rhythmic form with straightforward function.”

Couture Chair by Philippe Starck

The tweed pattern print seems to emphasize some mid century inspiration, don’t you think?

“Finally: another chair by Philippe….. but wait there is a twist: a pattern on the shell with a new printing on plastic technique. He chose a tweed pattern with pastel colored threads.”
