I’ve had this site bookmarked for a while now, and finally got a chance to go through it semi-thoroughly. If you’ve an empty spot for a piece of artwork, there’s a few gems that might fit. Here are a few random favorites.

Oh, here’s another overseas item that’s just too interesting to pass up. No worries, though as it is available to buy (also through PayPal, if you like). What is it exactly? A pattern sheet, obviously, that you can use to hammer out a pattern in nails on your wall. Connect the dots with string and remove pattern to see an altogether different โMasterpieceโย.

If you don’t do what you love, do something else. And if you can’t (or won’t) do something else, learn to love what you do. Simple enough advice.

A little art on a friday never hurt anyone, right? I ran across Saatchi Online the other day, and found there to be quite an array of interesting art starting around the $60 mark and going up into the thousands for originals. So, whether you’ve a few bucks to spend or lots and lots to invest, you might find something that suits your fancy. A few of my favorites are below.

Here’s some more affordable art to cut your collector’s teeth on… just a sampling, of course, as there’s lots more to see at THE MAMMOTH COLLECTION.

Textile designer Lourdes Sanchez recently collaborated with WestElm and turned some of her textile designs into wall art. I would ordinarily not recommend purchasing artwork from a mass retailer because I usually I believe that art should have some meaning when you choose to purchase it and put it in your home…but I’m a sucker for geometrics and Lourdes is a real artist so I’m going against my better judgement.

Just saw this over at Poketo!: In October of 2004, Kate Bingaman-Burt began drawing her credit card statements each month with the goal of doing so until they were all paid off. Now, imagine all that work, and think, if you did the same, would it affect your credit card balance? She has since paid off the original debt.

If recent events have prompted you to understand what’s happening with the earth’s lithosphere, you might appreciate this map as a visual aid. It provides an accurate visual detail of the ocean floor and is available in two sizes, with or without a frame.

Wall tiles had a big heyday a few years ago, and some of these designs by the Dutch company WallArt remind me why. All of their wall tiles are made out of the fibrous residu of sugarcane, making them 100% recycled and compostable/biodegradable. My standout favorites are the Gaps and Kites, but there’s ten other patterns to choose from if you’re interested.

If you haven’t donated to the relief efforts in Japan yet, please consider taking a few moments to do so. Whether you donate directly to American Red Cross or buy one of the many posters/prints/goods whose proceeds will go directly to aid efforts, every little bit helps.

If you’ve never heard of Three Potato Four, and you like antiques and flea market finds, you’re in for a treat. Besides having their own brick and mortar store located in Philadelphia, PA, they’ve now teamed up with Urban Outfitters to design 3-P4, an eight-piece home collection inspired by the items from their shop. Stu Eli, who owns and runs the store with his wife Janet Morales, says their aim was to create items “manufactured for everyday use”.

Just ran across these Fortune Posters from The Best Part. Each print uses phrases from real fortune cookies collected over the course of the artist’s life. Available individually for $10 or as a set of 8 for $50… not bad for art on a budget.
