What’s the big deal about a walnut tray? Well, if you own anything, you know that little things tend to multiply, and it helps to have a tray handy to corral important things together. For instance, in the living area, a tray, such as the 9.9.2 Box you see above, would be an ideal spot to hold magazines and those unsightly TV remotes. In the kitchen, a tray would make a short job of setting the table- you can carry an armload’s worth of stuff safely to and fro. Forgive me, but I’m a little in love with the Vintage Printed Trays from Robyn Glaser. How could I not be, when we’re talking about updating older wooden trays with a geometric pattern that’s sure to catch the eye as well as all manner of miscellany around the house? Suddenly I’m inspired to round up every wooden tray I find on ebay and try my own hand at adding triangle patterns, though I’m guessing my attempt won’t look near as nice as these.

What’s so great about an Aluminum Tray? Other than the fact it’s from Piet Hein Eek and his fascination of the technical possibilities of aluminum (specifically, when combined with a stamping machine), you can rest easy knowing that it’ll take a beating and still do the job of holding whatever you might need to transport to and from the desk or dining table. Or, if you intend to set it upon a surface merely to corral mail and/or other miscellany, it certainly adds a certain machine aesthetic that you may find as a nice contrast to your other wooden pieces.

If you have a very good memory, you probably remember seeing this bowl before when Gregory Buntain, of Fort Standard, shared his holiday Gift Ideas. It’s well past the shopping frenzy that is December, but I still have my eye on the Standing Bowls, and their splendid “architecturally inspired” planar legs. Each bowl is finished with a food-safe powder coating, so it’d be just at home in the kitchen or dining room as anywhere else.

Can’t afford the $7,150 WrongWoods Long Credenza? How about the $2,970 WrongWoods Night Table? If your response to both these questions is rolling your eyes and wishing for the umpteenth time you’ll win the lottery, you need to take in this number: $220. It’s a tray, which is significantly smaller than a credenza or cabinet, hence the significantly smaller price tag. It’s still not cheap, of course, as it is a collaboration between British artist Richard Woods and designer Sebastian Wrong, but it does give you a chance to appreciate (and own) their work on a smaller scale.

If you’re not in need of a tray or two to catch miscellany around your home or office, congratulations, you deserve a tip of the hat. For the rest of us, a felt tray would be an excellent spot to keep our smaller devices, keys, wallet, remotes, etc. The felt material would soften the clatter of contents, and give you a designated catch-all for whatever you deem appropriate.

So, what’s your best guess? It’s around 16″ deep, with one side about 4.5″ in length and the other about 7.5″. It’s not a table per se, but it does function as a surface. (Hint: it has something to do with a sofa.)

Don’t say you don’t need a desktop organizer because you’ll just sound all put together and organized. Yep, it’s a plate with a strange sort of image- minerals, to be exact. Why would you need something such as this? You don’t, of course, but you might want a plate with weird mineral formation imagery just to appreciate/celebrate the strange and wondrous things found in nature, especially when the imagery has such nice color combinations. There’s little info available as to food safety, but I’d say any of these are more suited to catching keys and miscellany, just so you could see it each day instead of being tucked away in a cabinet.
