It’d be awfully tempting to stuff this tea towel into the mouth of a loud, mean person. Would we get punched in the face? Probably. But, it might shut them up, at least temporarily. And, it’d be hard to be mean when holding a tea towel with a pretty rainbow and the words ‘BE NICE’, wouldn’t it? So, maybe they’d change, as if by magic. Tea towels are so much better than paper towels, at least for the simple spills in the kitchen. If you’re interested in color theory, have I got the tea towels for you. Raw Color has created a series of tea towels that explore concepts from graphic design in woven form. From 10% to 100% intensity, each box of color appears to be printed on as a sort of large scale screen key (those little boxes on the sides of printed fabrics), yet each is expressed by altering the fabric weave. It’s the concept of print and traditional weaving combined. There’s also the Index Collection Blankets, which are even more impressive because of the larger scale; they’re available from Raw Color’s website for €375.

It’s been a little while since a tea towel has been featured, and for all we know you’re standing there with your hands wet from the sink and nowhere to turn. If you love the work of Arne Jacobsen, you might as well get his typography Tea Towel Set alongside your Jacobsen cups and perhaps the Jacobsen Milk & Sugar Set.
