While this has quite a bit of wait time, it’s an excellent price for a great little conversation piece. Rapid prototyping is really enabling designers to make some interesting stuff, as is the case with this candlestick. A traditional candlestick form is warped through 3D rendering, then rapid prototyped and cast.

Inspired by the traditional matchbox, designer Simon Donald created the Stanley series of oak candle stick holders. What really makes it stand out is the bright block of yellow, which is actually sandpaper for use as a striking surface.

Brooklyn designer Jean Pelle handcrafts these gorgeous candle holders from cross sectioned wood and then fills the cracks with a super bright white filling. They are one of four unique designs available, check out the rest at Jean Pelle’s website.

This reminds me of the Candle with matchbox (which, btw, I can’t find for sale online anymore), in that it conveniently integrates the match box into the design of the candleholder. No more searching for random matchbooks in the kitchen drawer every time you want a little candlelight.

Drippy wax might be annoying to some, but this candle creates an interesting piece as it melts.

Unlike a typical candle, this column candle can simply be placed as an interior decor with its detailed and antique look. Even after usage, the candle will only burn 1/3 of the top, creating an original piece as wax will melt over to drip down the column base.

The artist Emogayu creates each vessel by hand, so no two are exactly alike.

Emogayu, who is originally from Japan, hand-crafted a series of vases and bowls for us called ‘Volcanoes’; Inspired by the natural energy of flowing lava and the way it captures a moment in time forever. Her hopes are that whoever owns her work will not treat them as ‘objects’ but will allow the energy of their space to flow freely through them.
