Brilliant! You can customize the color and shape of these pendants. And if you don’t think you’d be interested, just give it a go and see if you don’t find a perfect color pairing that would fit somewhere in your home. There’s 8 different shapes, each with their own color besides the basic black and white. It gets pricier as you add to the grouping, but you can always just choose one pendant (or two) and stop there (good luck).

This light bears its name for obvious reasons. The adjustable light projects a beam onto a folded aluminum shade, which then bounces the light back towards its source. The large, sail-like shade seems to float in mid air, yet reality shows a thin chain that hangs from a single point in the ceiling. This complete separation of light source and shade allows for various placements- do have some fun with moving it around to figure out the best effect.

Seeing as the Flos sale began yesterday (ends March 19), it’s particularly fitting to feature the IC S Pendant Light by Michael Anastassiades. The original inspiration for the IC collection was the skillful way in which a juggler spun a set of spheres around his/her body, and, indeed, it’s easy to feel the off-centered balance and slight tension of each lamp. There’s the suspension lamp, featured here, as well as the IC C/W Wall Ceiling Light, the IC F Floor Lamp, and the IC T1 High and IC T2 Table Lamp.

Here’s a worthy pursuit: design a better option for placing light fixtures. Yes, you could call an electrician and spend hundreds of dollars. You could also buy a cheap brass hook and knot your cord’s fixture to keep it in place. Neither are ideal, but both are entirely feasible. Now you can add one more possibility to the mix. The Little Bishop Ceiling Hook aims to provide a hook specifically for cable hung pendant lights. This hook is shaped and cast by hand, with an elegant solution to wrap the cord around itself for a seamless installation. It might not fit every lighting situation, but for more temporary solutions on pendant light placement, it’s seems like a smart choice.

Remember Lee Broom’s Crystal bulb? Well, take that idea a step further and you’ve got his Decanterlights in all their fine hand-cut, lead crystal glory. So, here’s something sort of exciting: there’s a new online store that aims to provide high-end modern design at affordable prices. How’s that going to happen? Original design, true craftsmanship, and working directly with factories around the world, apparently. Will it work? Let’s hope so. Hem just opened for preorders, and I’ve got my eye on this Kuu Lamp ($149-$225). There’s no doubt you’ll be seeing more of the collection within the next several weeks, so prepare your house for some new additions (and your bank account for a few subtractions).

If you’re fond of constellations, then you’ll like this Starry Light by Anagraphic. The hemispheric shade lends itself to a pattern of the Northern Hemisphere’s two equinoxes and solstices and a LED light fixture projects most of its light downwards, with just enough residual light to bring out the stars on your walls. Let’s do a little comparison to put the price of this Norm 69 Lamp into perspective. The 69-part lamp was inspired by the intricate exterior of the pinecone, and was originally designed in 1969 by Simon Karkov. It takes a little while to assemble, but you won’t need tools or any adhesives. You’ll also need to find a socket and cord, but that shouldn’t be any problem in this day and age. The price? $130.

As you might have noticed, there have been a few posts lately from the recent and oh-so-long-ago past. That’s because it’s August, and, thankfully, that means it’s time to take a much needed vacation. So, instead of doing all brand spanking new posts each and every weekday, you’ll be seeing some content being fixed and updated and peppered into the line up, which is a good thing unless you like finding a lot of broken links every time you sift through our site.

All that to say that, thankfully, this Unfold Pendant remains at the same price as it was three years ago. Happy day. It’s one of my favorite lights because of its soft silicone shade. That allows this industrial look-a-like pendant to be easily folded, saving space in shipping (or your own moving) boxes.

If money was not a concern, I’m sure many of us would opt for one of these pendants designed by Resident Studio. Aluminum or brass channels have LEDs hidden inside to keep the shape extremely clean and sculptural. The results are a group of light fixtures that double as art objects; each could provide a modern contrast with more traditional interiors or fit in easily with similarly minimal/modern furnishings.
