If you’re craving the glow of a camp lantern, here’s just the thing. If you keep the wattage low, it might make a great nightlight in a hallway or kid’s room (or your own, if you need a little reassurance in the dark).

Oooo! This new Floral Pendant by David Trubridge has several choices of interior paint colors, all of which add a subtle color wash that contrasts nicely to the outside natural bamboo finish. This light ships flat (minimizing packaging) and looks easy enough to assemble (see video below). Available in three sizes, 23.5″ dia., 31.5″ dia., or 39.5″ dia.

This little Lego-ish light features four LEDs that “achieve top performance”, but what I like most is that the head flips back and forth to provide either localized bedside lighting or an overall accent light.
Available in several vibrant colors.

Usually cords are unappealing and annoying necessities, but in the case of the Lloop Basic by
Vij5, the cord is a functional decoration. Two wooden pieces allow you to extend or shorten loops of the electrical cable to get the height (and look) you want.
Aluminium lampshade, two wooden pieces, transparent plastic pull relief and 6 meters of textile electricity cable

Heavy metal lighting: hmm, what do we think? Made from recycled wine barrel hoops, this chandelier has a handmade feel with just enough edge to keep it from looking too hokey. I agree with the designers in that it would look just at home in a rustic room as a modern setting; it could possibly be one of those pieces that make a room look perfectly ‘unperfect’ (i.e. lived in/eclectic).

Smart! Stack them in a tower or stick ’em in a bookcase, these birch plywood lamps are minimal and very functional. Total edition size is 20, so if you don’t snap a few up soon, you might have to get your toolbox out for a DIY version.

Whoa, not a bad price for a crazy-angular-modern pendant light. It’s a powder-coated metal shade, so no worries about robustness. Also, there’s a slightly rounder version (Olympus, shown below) if that would suit you better.
Available in Black or White powder-coated finish.
Hardwire installation.

Frangipani, indeed. Do you know what a Frangipani is? It’s a flower that most of us would recognize as the Hawaiin Lei flower. The lovely textured pattern of this light shade is created from hundreds of overlapping elements of polypropylene plastic (which, as some of you might know, is completely recyclable).

The Placa Lamp is a charming little light that rests on a simple board. This plinth-like base sets off the lamp and switch elements, making a sort of stage to set items upon. The double and triple versions have additional lamp shades, which add to the stage feel (almost like actors conspiring). To purchase, please contact the Show Me Gallery directly at geral(at)showme.com.pt.

Update: The Kiosk Table lamp is on sale for $190 now at DWR, which is a heck of a lot more affordable than the regular price of $380.
This oval shaped lamp would look lovely in any room. It’s substantial as far as size and materials, yet the shape lends itself to working well on sideboards or nightstands. Inspired by classic mid-century Danish lighting.

As promised, the Spica Light in all its glory… by none other than Iacoli & McAllister. This pic shows the Spica threaded (threaded!), and obviously it’s a bit more expensive with those hand-wrapped threads, but it sure packs a punch with a little bit of color detail. Of course, without threads the Spica is still spectacular. Also, the smaller black version with threads is over at Gretel ($795), if you’d like to see how it looks.
