I’m not a huge candle-fan, but I like the idea of fire and ice used together. You fill the mould with water and let it freeze, then you light the candle and as the ice melts, it drains neatly back into the mould.

Quite a markdown- it’d be a good alternative to a table/bedside lamp, freeing up valuable surface space. Perhaps it’s time to switch out a light or two?

So maybe this is still a little high for a lamp, even though it’s almost half off, but I think it’s different enough to warrant the extra cash. Plus, it’s imported, so that unfortunately affects the overall price.
“The San Marco is a sleek and low profile desk lamp. Fluorescent lamps are housed in the top extrusion of the four sided frame. It is available in three sizes and two metal finishes: matte aluminum or gun metal. On/off switch on body.”

The amount of light emitted depends upon how much the lid is opened. This would make a perfect gift for any of your design/gadget lover friends.
Literally a ‘light box’, Franco Bettonica and Mario Melocchi’s compact Cuboluce allows the level and angle of light emitted to be adjusted simply by varying the degree to which its lid is opened. Made from technopolymers, it takes one 40w E14 R50 bulb (not included). Also available in white or red.

You might have seen the flat version of this posted before, but this is the first time I’ve come accross this smaller/thinner version.
“This whimsical rubber lamp is called “soft” because in fact it is; one can literally flex the diffuser which contains the bulb. It can be used anywhere. The cord which suspends the diffuser seemingly melts into the diffuser creating a continuous form.”
Available in white only.
notes: diffuser measures 4″ x 7″; cord measures 54″ maximum length (can be cut as part of being installed into ceiling fixture)

Regardless of your feelings on heavy metal upon one’s personage, in a room it can add a certain amount of shine and decorative touch that other materials can’t match. And, hey, who doesn’t love a bit of reflective jewelry for the home that’s under $250?

This is something different. If you’ve got a sparse corner or a section of floor to dedicate to a light, then you might consider this Kozom light by designer Alexandre Berthiaume. It adds a special sort of atmosphere- kind of a cross between a fun piece and an art-like ambience that isn’t easy to come by. Each piece is hand-made from inflated vinyl balls.

Designed in 1960, these are constructed in a similar fashion to the Nelson lights, but I think I like these better because they aren’t so iconic.

Gatto piccolo; 11.8″ h | 7.5″ w | 60w max

These handcrafted resin cube lights can be hung on the wall or used on a surface. Since the bulb is a 4 watt night light it doesn’t emit much heat.
