I have long loved these lamps…(they are a bit beyond my current budget though). Designed by Piet Boon for Mooi Design, these lamps are made of pvc/cotton laminate on metal frames.

This reminds me of something you might see in the Ice Hotel in Sweden. It would look good in a really stark room.

Indeed. So you’re really saving money by buying this instead of the three other things, right? Regular lightbulbs work (and it can hold up to 500 lbs.!).

If your breakfast nook or dining room needs a bit of something, like say, maybe a smokebush pendant light, then you’re lucky. ‘Cause here it is. It’s linen and it’s orange and it’s got a nice hand block printed design that spices up a room just a tad. Hard-wire installation.

Now hear this. You decide how this lamp looks. It comes to you flat, and then you bend it any which way you want in order to get the desired effect. How neat is that?

This is something else. It’s made of lucite (polished edges) and comes with glass cups that hold four tapers. You actually assemble it and then it can fold back flat for storage. I bet it’s really nice when lit, and lends a special ambiance to whichever room you like.

Just enough to look good, not enough to overpower…a perfect fix to highlighting spots in a room.

Okay, so maybe this isn’t what you’re expecting to spend on the light above your dining table, but (!) you have to at least look at this one. It’s an interactive lighting fixture of love letters in all different sorts of languages, AND you’re supposed to participate. Or you can if you want to. Several blank pages are included, and you can add your prose by attaching your letter to the tiny clips. (don’t worry, it’s heat resistant frosted glass.) I can’t help but love this lamp. It looks like crystal, but is made entirely in transparent polycarbonate-and, if that doesn’t do it for you, it can be assembled at three different heights: 27″, 29″ and 31″.
