BL7 Wall Sconce

Brass Bauhaus attack! And from Bestlite again, no less. Listen, there’s the bad brass tchotchkes you can find at your local thrift store, and then there’s the good brass, which you will pay through the nose for and not regret it. This wall sconce is firmly in the latter category. So elegant and refined, your visitors will wonder if you’ve just inherited a big pile of cash (say you found it at a thrift store and they’ll not come back asking for a loan).

Minimis Outdoor Luminaires

What is this, you say… and I know we’re both not talking about the half-dollar coin, but the small, round, metal object next to it. That’s a very tiny-aperture recessed LED indoor/outdoor luminaire- called the 1Puck LP– for your walls, floors, decks, and ceilings. And it packs a powerful punch: it consumes only 1 watt, yet throws a 12 to 14 foot beam. There’s also the Thumbtack LP, which is a tiny-aperture landscape LED luminaire perfect for installing in earth/grass, mulch, or hardscape.

onefortythree Wall Lamps

Bear with me here as I calm myself down from a conniption fit. I’m frantically trying to figure out where in my home I need an extra (and rather large) swing arm lamp after perusing the awfully affordable wall lights from onefortythree. (Have we posted these lamps before? Who cares?) You think I’m over exaggerating, and I am ever so slightly, but just take a look at the prices- $95, $145, $275- and each light is remarkably lovely. You can’t go wrong with those prices or any of the lamps… but, if you do, just let me know and I’ll be happy to take it/them off your hands.

The Lightbracket

What is this strange light emanating from this shelf bracket? So strange, so, um, delightful, isn’t it? Alexandra Burr and Allen Slamic of AlexAllenStudio bring us a shelf bracket and under shelf light all in one, bringing light to those dark spaces beneath your bookshelves, wherever you decide to put them (beside your sofa, by your nightstand, in the imaginary grand library, etc.). Choose between red, orange, green, blue, red, and white nylon cords.

Wall Lamp

If you think you’ve seen this light before, you might be thinking of the Bracket Lamp by Dino Sanchez. There’s similarities in the design, of course, but there’s a few distinct details that perhaps explain the price difference. The Bracket Lamp has a permanent intersecting joint and a more streamlined ceramic fixture, while you can see this wall lamp has a removable stub tenon joint and a traditional solid brass socket. Which one is preferable? That’s completely up to you.

Prouvé Potence Lamp

Mainly this lamp has resided in the in-case-I-inherit-money inspiration folder, but if you possess great skills in money management, maybe one day you’ll have one for your very own. Designed by Jean Prouvé in collaboration with Charlotte Perriand in 1950, the Potence lamp provides overhead lighting on a pivoting swivel. The single metal rod extends almost 7 feet from the wall, which allows illumination in a 180-degree range without the fuss of taking up floor space.

Night Light Moon, Earth

Night lights aren’t just for little ones afraid of the dark, they can also be exceptionally handy for avoiding toe injury when making late night trips to and from the bathroom or fridge. Night lights are generally geared toward those in the age bracket of 2 years to tween, with many unfortunate cartoon-themed designs available, so these two Moon and Earth options from Kikkerland are nice to see as they’re gender neutral and could go anywhere- yes, a kid’s room, but also a hallway, bathroom, etc..

Hank Lamp

A wall lamp with a coat hook? Sure, why not? After all, an extra hook for hanging a hat by the front door could come in handy, or maybe it’d be useful in a dressing area, where all manner of accessories and outfits need adequate lighting for your fashion decisions. (If you’ve ever heard the ‘did you get dressed in the dark’ jab, that last bit was directed at you.)

Pilot Lamp

Just the word ‘sconce‘ brings to mind older, more traditional interiors, but this lamp from Misewell definitely belongs to the more modern day home. With a mid-sized proportion, the lamp is a great choice for bedside or hallway, or even paired up on either side of a large mirror.

Flat Life Lamp and Clock

Another version of this Flat Life Lamp was available a couple of years ago (see 2010 post), but this Anglepoise-like image is a tad more sophisticated. Be sure to check out the Flat Life Clock (shown below) as well (how much do you wish it had an actual alarm function?).

Bracket Lamp

There’s no hiding the cord on this wall lamp by Dino Sanchez. Indeed, it’s the cord that is the lamp, along with a solid oak bracket. I love the blackened oak version, shown below, but there’s several combinations to choose from. Handcrafted in Massachusetts.

Cord Lamp by Brendan Ravenhill

Whoa, talk about being pleasantly surprised, this wall Cord Lamp by Brendan Ravenhill is one heck of a deal at $150. If I still lived in the US, I would buy two of these for bedside lamps and then sit back and congratulate myself for finding such a bargain. Simple, modern, and affordable? Music to the ears.
