Wall Lighting

Twiggy Adjustable Lamp

If you’ve not seen the offerings from Cleveland based furniture design and manufacturing company Objeti, you’re in for a treat. The Twiggy LED Lamp is just one of many things I’ve been waiting to post (as not all items have hit retail shops) and it certainly does not disappoint. Two ball and socket joints allow for a multitude of positions, meaning you’ll get light right where you want it in a very stylish manner.

Anodized aluminum.
Available in black or red, with either exposed cord or direct wall mounting.

Flat Light Poster

Finally available to purchase (after quite a bit of waiting, I might add), this Flat Light Poster was designed by Finn Magee after he admired the light and atmosphere of an Anglepoise task light. This would be the perfect sort of light for a cramped space, wouldn’t it?

Produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces.

Mr. 2 and Mr. 5 by Tomas Alonso

Whoa. Though these are terribly expensive, they’re also completely spectacular. Part lighting and part sculpture, either of these lights are sure to become a treasured piece in your collection. I don’t mean ‘your collection’ in the home-is-a-museum sort of way, just that if you spend the money on one of these lights, you should love it enough to keep it forever.

Light Pillow

Hmm. A pillow shaped light, but take note that it’s not an actual pillow (if the metal frame is anything to go by).

Linas Kutavicius’ Light Pillow is all about warmth and softness. This pillow shaped light can be placed on the floor (or bed), hung on the wall or used as a chandelier. Any way you use it, you’re sure to have a unique lamp.

Removable cover – easy to wash.

Liquid Lamp

Personally, I think I’d prefer a different color than red, but other than than, these lamps are pretty intriguing. They certainly are different, and I like how they’re on a smaller scale, so they can be tucked into smaller work spaces perhaps.

These stark white lamps are made from sturdy iron plate, but their fluid shape reminds us more of that glass cup full of paint that we knocked over (if it had been suspended in motion).

Designer: Kouichi Okamoto
Available in wall or table versions. Red or white interior.

Lili Lite

While this looks to be a perfect invention for readers (automatic sensor, brilliant!), take note that if you live outside of the U.K. you should be prepared to switch out the power plug, or ask after a customized version to suit you.

Lili Lite is a reading light, a bookmark and a bookshelf combined into one smart product. A sensor turns off the light when an open book is placed on the shelf. When the book is picked up again, the light automatically turns on. Lili Lite also has a switch to turn the light on and off manually. Lili Lite is a witty design that combines function and style in a simple but ingenious way.

Pivot Sconce

These look like an excellent choice for bedside reading; mounting lights on the wall frees up valuable space on the side table and the pivoting head ensures that you’ll always have direct light on your nighttime novel. Plus, the gunmetal finish is industrial and modern, yet not too sleek (as sometimes chrome can be).

No electrician required. Easy-installation gunmetal grey steel wall-readers simply have an exposed black cloth cord that makes its way down to the outlet. Task light head pivots up, down, around. Industrial on/off toggle switch. Type B 60W or E12 bulb (not included). Mounting hardware included.

Cornelius and Catherina Wall Lights (Pair)

These are a great pair of wall lights- you see portraits only when they’re on, otherwise they’re just a plain grey or white.

Wall lights as functional art…literally!
This discreet pair of oval canvas wall lights reproduce two “shy” old Master Paintings of the Flemish school that appear only when the lights are switched on. Switched off, the wall lights assume a simple, modern monochromatic look. Turn them on, the features of Cornelius and Catherina will filter trough, giving your decor a refined yet modern look. Sold in pairs. Available with a grey or a white canvas background.

Hono Light

Check this out: what functions essentially as a candle is actually an LED. That in itself is nothing particularly new, but this flickering light has a magnetic “match” which turns it on or off.

The Hono Light (2005) combines the warm ambient glow of a candle with advancements in LED technology to create an “object that fascinates us in a moment.” This is Chiaki Murata’s goal for everything in his product line, Metaphys. When lit, Hono flickers like candlelight, with a “flame” produced by an algorithm-programmed LED. Turn it on or off by gently striking a magnetic “match” on the lamp’s surface. The light can also be blown out, like a candle, and will automatically turn back on after 10 seconds. Able to be safely affixed to a wall, Hono has some advantages over traditional wax. It comes with a charger, and one 15-hour charge will keep Hono illuminated for eight hours.

Whoa, these lights are absolutely lovely. Perfect for any modern interior space, they can be recessed into walls or ceilings to provide the right amount of indirect lighting.

Heavy Guy #1

We’ve posted the Lightweight and ‘Heavy Guy’ Chandelier (which is also currently one of our banner images) by Mischa Vos, and surprisingly somehow missed this little wall light. It’s incredibly minimal (and affordable too).

“Subtle and sophisticated, the weight of a single, naked bulb is held suspended in air by a thin, steel rod. Simply adjust the length of the cord to create a beautifully curved line. A crisp, clean look in a captivating, contemporary form.”

Materials: Steel rod, Wire, 40W bulb
