This is probably a little different than what you’re used to. A soft, woven fibre-glass cloth is the “shade” of this light, and possibilities are endless. You can hang in on a wall, lay it on the floor- really, any way you choose, this light would be lovely.

The Nut Sconce by Ray Power (is that a stage name?) uses thin woof veneer (in either natural cherry or white ash) over a formed polyester shape which allows both direct and indirect lighting.

This was designed as an affordable way to filter out the harsh light of a lone bulb. Attractive on one bulb, and even more so on several bulbs. This won an award in ID magazine.

This would be voted “easiest light fixture to install”. No directions necessary (except for you read-everything-twice-before-picking-up-the-drill) since you just screw in the curved aluminum piece to the wall, and then clip in the reflective bulb. All that’s left is plugging the cord into an outlet. See? Super easy.

Several years ago I saw a remote controlled lamp in which you could change the color and the brightness of the light. I really wanted it but it was $6,000 and much too expensive for my meager salary. But look! Now it’s available at a much more reasonable price.

This wall sconce would be great in a hallway or by the bedside. It incorporates 2 of my favorite features: bentwood walnut, and wall mounting (for a streamlined appearance).

It’s got a 15 foot cord, but I’m thinking why not just call an electrician and have them install it properly in the wall? Call me crazy, but if I spend almost $500 on bedside lamps, I don’t want a cord draped on the ground.
