Time for an update. We posted these years ago, and they’ve not disappeared from our wishlists, though they have slightly changed in terms of pricing and available retailers. These Rubber X-Bands would come in handy for all sorts of office related papers and miscellany, or, better yet, for keeping a small gift box sealed as shown. Each box has an assortment of four sizes and colors, 16 rubberbands in total.

You’ve got to appreciate the fact that the Merkled folks aren’t wasting one scrap of the offcuts from their Coat Rack (remember Merkled Lighting?). These hooks are similar to the coat rack in that one slight bend creates strength. Line up two or three in a row near your entranceway (or closet) or take advantage of the Set of 7 ($95) and go big by scattering them all over a wall.

Politics: it’s not the safest topic to discuss amongst friends and family, but if you want to subtly state your preference during this campaign season (and then have visitors wipe their feet on your preference) one of these doormats is for you. Choose between WELCOME* Unless you’re a Republican and WELCOME* Unless you’re a Democrat. However, if you choose to purchase either, do be aware that you run the risk of sparking conversations that you’d rather not have with your guests, or close friends and family, for that matter.

A little black and white geometry always catches the eye, and these cups from Ferm Living are no exception. However, upon first glance, a person might think ‘haven’t I seen these before?’ and that person might search their memory (and the internet) only to find an image of Masahiro Mori’s Mini Cups. Quite similar, indeed, yet there’s a sizable difference in dimensions. Ferm Living’s Geometry Cups are larger and more suited for water, tea, or coffee, while Mori’s Mini Cups are smaller and more fit for sake and spirits.

What to do with a boring pendant light? Why, upgrade the bulb to crystal, of course. Lee Broom recently unveiled his cut-lead crystal bulbs this year in Milan; each one is individually hand blown by Cumbria Crystal, the last producer of handmade English full lead crystal. The bulb fits any standard E27 fitting, and is available to purchase alone ($175) or with a brushed brass pendant ($275).

Need an internet radio? Access more than 15,000 internet radio stations with the updated Heritage model from Revo. It provides coverage of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), DAB+, FM, and Wi-Fi internet radio, and there’s the docking for iPods and iPhones with the requisite wireless audio streaming as well. Do you think Columbus Day should be rededicated as Explorer’s Day? Sounds better, doesn’t it? However you feel about the issue, and whether or not you have the day off, don’t let that adventurous spirit inside you get too comfortable on the sofa. Take a trip! While you’re at it, maybe bring along this travel journal: there’s a checklist, a diary, an international translator (perhaps not the most thorough, mind you), and the pièce de résistance, of course, is the scratch off maps. Scratch off the towns and chart your journey through a continent. Maybe it’s a little fussy for the serious traveler, but if your approach is more carefree then it could be a fun way to keep track of your travels.
