This tea towel is infected by a ‘Design Virus’. Designed by Pieke Bergmans (of Crystal Virus fame) for the Textile Museum, her aim is to create “personalized mass production” where irregularities are included rather than discarded.

Organize your cables with this USB Battleship Hub. Created by the design duo Giffin’ Termeer, the idea was that the “boat shape could be an ‘organizing image’ to visually manage the tangle”… it’s also weighted so that it won’t topple over.

You might have heard of the Buddha Machine, but do you own one? The Buddha Machine is a small plastic box that plays ambient loops, sort of like an AM radio except with specific tracks. Music that comes from the Buddha Machine is intended to provide calm and inspiration for our fast-paced lives, and can be experienced through the built-in speaker or through headphones. Luxury pens and fancy mechanical pencils? Pffft. Kick it old school style with this pencil designed by Conrad Gessner over 400 years ago. Did you get that, 400 years ago? It’s hand-made from turned cherry wood and will set you back a mere £21.

I’ve got my sights set on these lights from Anzfer Farms, which is just too darn bad since I’m in the UK (voltage difference, blergh). But, hey, if you’re in the good ol’ US of A, you should take a look. They’re made from reclaimed wood, some (or all) of which are gathered on the San Francisco shoreline, and have just the right amount of rustic to go with your modern (and eclectic?) surroundings. The set of four shown above sell for $400 on Anzfer’s etsy shop, but individual ones are available for around $100-$120.

Less is sometimes more. These classic clocks by Swiss industrial designer Max Bill were designed in 1957 and are, quite frankly, timeless. Perfectly proportioned and firmly in the ‘minimal’ category, these clocks tell the time with a quartz clock battery-operated (single AA battery) movement.

Get ideas in the shower? Or in the rain? or while doing dishes? Behold the Waterproof Notebook, which is comprised of 80 sheets of waterproof paper and a graphite pencil. (I hadn’t really been aware of such a thing as waterproof paper, but apparently you can tear out the sheets like an ordinary notebook.)

This clever little doorstop has asymmetrical ends in order to fit varying gaps between doors and floors. Its depth is also shallow enough that you won’t stub your toe or trip over it. Smart.
