It’s a lighter that looks like a candle. Nothing fancy, but it may be a little nicer to look at than a regular ol’ lighter. Maybe.

So, I’m a sucker for for old-timey font combined with positive sayings. These three prints are from Eva Juliet’s originally designed “Vintage” collection and are surprisingly affordable when bought as a group. Individually they cost about $30 for a 13″x19″, which isn’t so bad either (see Everything is gonna be allright 13×19).

This porcelain skull is a good sized smallish bank at 4.5″ x 6″ x 4″ and it’s also super affordable. So, if you’re needing a ‘darker’ way to save money, perhaps you should snap one or two up and call it a day.

Hey, you lucky few that aren’t gasping and reeling at this very moment from the close-to-five-figure price tag, let’s talk about how fun these rugs are. Aren’t they fun? Aren’t they colorful and wonderful and just simply delightful? Don’t you just love, love, love when artists get into the home furnishings market with products that would simply sing in your own home? No matter the about the price. Because you can just simply plonk down the cash and wait for the delivery and ta-da! then you have a lovely, wonderful piece that you can say, ‘oh, that thing? oh, yes, I just picked that up from [insert high-end retailer or gallery] and it’s by [insert artist’s name], you know, we just luuuve his/her pieces…’ and then carry on like it’s no big deal. Isn’t it just nice when you can do that sort of thing.

Now that I’ve got that grumbling out of my system, I actually do think these rugs by Richard Woods are wonderful. And delightful. I really, truly do. It’s just a shame that I can’t quite afford the prices right now. Lucky for you if you can.

I keep threatening to get one of these for myself, and I figure I best follow through this year. As usual, each month features strange phrases that have the letters of the month highlighted, making for an unusual text-based artwork above your desk or in your office. Oh, also, this year a small black pencil is included for noting events.

These clocks from Diamantini and Domeniconi are made from large, thin aluminium sheets in bold colors. They’re spectacular in a group (as shown above and below), and would create a great focal point for a large wall that needs some oomph. All that said, the different prices from various retailers have my head spinning. I’ve included a few links (below pics) that you might want to reference before purchasing.

From a distance or first glance you may notice something a bit funny about these maps. A closer inspection will reveal that the graphics are actually made entirely from type. It’s easy to assume that such a daunting task would have been delegated to a computer program, but you’d be quite wrong. Every word has been manually placed, a process that took hundreds of hours to complete. At the moment, Chicago and Boston boston are available. They are made and ordered to print through Zazzle, so prices start at $15 for a 11 x 16, all the way up to $195 for a monumental 52 x 78” poster.

Okay, so be prepared for a little bit of an infommercial when visiting the site of hooklesshangers.com, (there’s a video with sound that starts automatically, fyi)… now that I’ve warned you about that, these hookless hangers are actually pretty smart, as they save quite a bit of space in the closet. By eliminating the closet rod in favor of a magnetic strip system, there’s about a 20% gain in space with the added aesthetic benefit of a streamlined look. While it would cost a pretty penny to overhaul your whole closet, it could be a smart solution for a small coat closet where every inch is needed.

These colorful bowls remind me a bit of Loyal Loot’s Log Bowls, except made in sustainably harvested mango trees. I can’t imagine any room or tabletop these would look bad in. Each measures 6” in diameter and are available in white, blue, or green.

If you took a quick look through the few pics of London’s Design Festival 2010, you might have caught a glance at Nina Tolstrup’s Outdoor kitchen. Seeing as the plans are free and available for download, you might want to check it out and see if it’s suitable for your own outdoor area. (Also, in case you’re curious, Nina made the kitchen for the outside deck of her family’s small Beach Chalet, that we did a quick post on back in ’08.)

Shane from EveryGuyed emailed us about Framework, a series of posters highlighting the most iconic men’s eyewear of the last 100 years. Personally, I like the ‘Framework’ print (shown above) more than the individual posters, but that’s just me.
