There’s nothing quite like a new piece of kitchen gadgetry to motivate you to spend more time in the kitchen, right? This Eva Solo serving dish might not look fancy, but it sure sounds handy to have. The stainless steel handles allow you to hold the dish in one hand and serve with the other, or, as the case may be, serve the dish straight from the table and rest assured that the silicone ends will keep your table protected. Woodcut prints will always fascinate me. The end results usually are impressive enough as it is, but knowing the time and patience to get there just adds to the appreciation. These tree prints by Bryan Nash Gill certainly offer a new kind of woodcut experience, by letting the trees speak for themselves.

Two prints are available, the Locust and the Hemlock, which are $800 and $4000 respectively.

When looking through a recent issue of Dwell, the “Main Chaude” Oven glove caught my eye. Lo and behold, through another search, I found the retailer again and got sucked into browsing through their whole site. They have quite a bit of little textile jewels for the kitchen and dining zones. Two of my favorites are this glove and placemat:

What appears at first as a vase is actually a stack of 4 unique bowls. Could be a handy thing to have for serving or storing snacks/food, or maybe even on your desk as a receptacle for office supplies. Totem is made by hand, so keep in mind that each one is “perfectly imperfect.”

Sure, you can find marquee lights around and about at antique shops and such, but with these you can pick whatever letters you want and there’s an ‘@’ symbol too. Immediate gratification vs. original signage? Tough choice.

I swear by my Lacie Firewire Speakers. They’re self-powered, sound good, and look like little smoke stacks. I won’t think twice about buying another set if they ever break. But this new, updated version looks very tempting:

Crocheted Rubber! Apparently they feel soft and silky, and given that they’re made from neoprine rubber, it’s an elegant contrast of traditional methods (i.e. crochet) with unexpected materials. They’d be excellent little bowls to hold all sorts of things given their strength and durability.

Hello, hello. These mathematically based stainless steel spheres transport electrical current while the LED lights evenly spread warm white light around a room. It’s not often that stainless steel can appear both delicate and strong, but it certainly seems so in this case. Available in three sizes, this light is sure to fit any room, but with the smallest starting at $1,869.00 it unfortunately won’t fit every budget.

I think every kitchen needs a large wooden spoon for cooking. It just has that warm, welcoming feeling when using it, and won’t burn your hand when you touch it. Having that minaturized into flatware for eating sounds like a good idea to me. Made from fast-growing and renewable bamboo, and supposedly the knife won’t ever lose its edge.

Why do you need a stack of memo notes that look like a block of wood? I couldn’t tell you, but I know I want one. My suggestion is that you don’t bring this to this office. Once your coworkers get a hold of it your block of wood will be a sliver of wood by the end of the day.
