Kitchen accessories that fold flat or fit together to save space always catch my eye, and this mezzaluna with accompanying board have me itching to chop up some herbs or something equally appropriate.

Hmm, yes, quite clever, but I think it would be cleverer if it came with some sort of cap so that you won’t get pencil marks everywhere. Although, you could just use a bic pen cap or something similar.

Possibly the worlds cleverest pencil, handmade in east London. Each white pencil has a clip carved into it, so that it can be attached to pockets, satchels and book covers just like a biro. It comes packaged on a coloured card and we think it’s a classic in the making!

Recycled telephone wire is hand woven into some surprisingly bright-yet-traditional patterned baskets. Known as izimbenges, these baskets were originally crafted from hand-dyed grass using techniques passed down from generation to generation. Lately I’ve been thinking of adding a modern pendant lamp in my kitchen with an old medallion for a nice little juxtaposition between old and new. I did it before in my old house and I think it created a nice effect. I just love this Moooi Cluster Lamp and think it would be a perfect modern light fixture. Moooi is one of my favorite design houses right now: they have such a tongue-in-cheek view of design with a perfect sense of proportion and flawless execution.

Not sure if many of you remember this being posted last year, but I sure do, because I ordered it only to discover a few weeks later that the retailer hadn’t sent it to me and wasn’t responding to any of my emails. Hello, hello. Check out this snazzy watering can by Pascal Charmolu. A flexible hose ensures water goes where you want it while a magnet keeps the hose upright/attached when not in use. Clever.

The challenge with conventional watering cans? Ensuring water hits its target. They’re also generally utterly unsightly. French-born Pascal Charmolu came up with the antidote: This beautifully streamlined, practical design. Made of 18-0 stainless steel, this can features a flexible silicone hose with a built-in magnet that allows it to be attached to the can’s body when not in use… When watering your plants, simply hold the metal cylinder with one hand and the hose in the other.
