Today’s apparently the day for romantic and contemporary talk. These lights strike me as a fun way to add a little color…they would look great above a small dining table or lined up in a row above a counter.

There is something both romantic and contemporary in the simplicity of the naked bulb, believes designer Mattias Ståhlbom, a partner in the internationally acclaimed architecture-design studio TAF, who celebrates the “essence” of the lamp—the socket—in a model he dubs E27 for the Finnish house Muuto. We couldn’t agree more. The colorful silicon rubber cord extends to 4 meters (13.12 feet).

A little bit of art in an unexpected place…

Beck’s innovative project uses the physical form of the book as a metaphor for a crack in the city sidewalk: printed in luscious five-color printing, the common dandelion, pigweed, and poison ivy—the very plants we ignore, step over, ignore, dig up, or scrupulously avoid—creep out of the gutter, up pages, and overrun the book. Multiple silhouettes overlap and repeat, drawing the reader’s attention to the overlooked. The book features a brown silk ribbon marker.

Holy moly, how much do you love that these are made from recycled necklaces? (How much do you want to make your own when you see the price tag?)

Why not carry around your to-do list on a glass or mug?
