Not sure if this is to everyone’s taste, but I really like this planter. It’s not just that it’s made from recycled tires, it’s the handcrafted quality and texture that make it a unique choice for planting or storage.

Last night, Design Public’s Matt & Drew (middle & right) and I were all hanging out in Wallpaper’s Best City of 2008, Los Angeles, for a little Standard Hotel / 7Grand / Dresden Room / House of Pies action, when I forced the guys into a photobooth.

I love photobooths because the resulting pictures look fairly consistent regardless of time period. I have a pretty good collection of photo strips, starting with one of me and my mom when I’m 4 years old. I’ve been wanting to find a good way to display them, and I was thinking of enlarging them and putting them on my wall, almost like wallpaper. I recently discovered that someone’s already done that, and it looks pretty great.

I wonder how well wood conducts heat? I’m tempted to buy these; they look so comfortable to hold, plus, they seem more natural than the ceramic mugs we’re all used to.

I love how simple this lamp is. Hinge, arm, bulb and that’s it. No fuss.

A concrete light bulb? Certainly something you don’t see everyday, you can hang your hat on this hook knowing it’ll stay put. Plus, you’ll probably get the ‘Where did you get that!?’ question when you have visitors, leading you to believe that your coolness factor increased.

“Made from a cement mortar mix, this lightbulb hook was poured into a hollowed out lightbulb, cured and then had the glass removed. The glass mold gives it a high shine and polished surface. During curing, the mortar mix leaves small holes in the surface whichadd texture and character. Because of this, every Concrete Lightbulb is unique. A lag bolt was embedded before curing, and sticks out 1.5″ inches to insure a solid grip into the wall when mounted.”

This light, modernist wall application reinterprets the headboard, a traditionally heavy furniture piece. The surface of reinforced cork is screenprinted by hand, graphically inspired by star formations and vintage tufted leather furniture. As a headboard or art object, the long proportion encourages creative placement in any environment. Dreamgate is reusable and can be trimmed easily to fit beds ranging from children’s to king size. Self-adhesive, non-marring backing makes installation simple.

These are sort of bizarre–The raw white cedar is probably better suited in an industrial/loft environment than a regular residential application, but it would have a great impact in a large space.
