These are quite the thing to catch the eye in a living or bedroom area.

Kind of clever, and doesn’t require carving a chicken.
“The quantum unpredictability of tearing paper lets you make wishes by completely natural chance. This paper pad has 100 sheets of invisibly fibrous paper with an exact starting point for tearing. In the end, the bigger piece of paper gives a perfectly impartial decision. They can be used for all kinds of decision-making, more specifically in deciding whose wish gets granted. They can all be used by one or two persons. Of course, they can also be used for writing notes to yourself or others.”

The fluid lines of these bowls look modern and elegant.
“Inspired by the aesthetics of clay in a mold that comes out too early and starts to beautifully slump. Designer Olav Slingerland picked precise moments in time during this process, and created molds to capture it. Their poetic, organic lines are embellished with delicious colored glazes.”
These bowls are double-glazed by hand and are food safe. Hand wash.

This was originally posted in September of last year, but it has just gone on sale so I thought it was worthy of a repost.
“Stefano Giovannoni, an architect and industrial designer, paired up with Alessi to bring captivating form to an everyday function. The Alessi Handheld Vacuum recharges in its base with an integrated crevice tool and wet nozzle. Crafted out of stainless steel, the sleek form can be stored where it’s most convenient, rather than hidden in a cabinet, out of reach and out of view. The base can be wall mounted. Giovannoni’s work is in the permanent collections at MoMA and the Centre Georges Pompidou. UL listed.”

Sure, it’s expensive, but I usually don’t like oil lamps and this one completely changed my mind. I kind of love it.
“Glass hurricane lamp houses an upturned light bulb, ironically converted into oil lamp, suspended by dipping wires. A functional sculpture created in homage to Thomas Alvin Edison’s 1879 unveiling of the world’s first long-lasting electric lamp, which lasted 13.5 hours.”

From the same guys that did the Park Planters, comes a couple of interesting ‘Phonofones’.
“Through passive amplification alone, These unique pieces instantly transform any personal music player + earbuds into a sculptural audio console. Without the use of external power or batteries, the Phonofone inventively exploits the virtues of horn acoustics to boost the audio output of standard earphones to up to 55 decibles* (or roughly the maximum volume of laptop speakers). Upon connecting active earphones to the Phonofone their trebly buzzing is instantly and profoundly transformed into a warm, rich and resonant sound.”

Indestructible lighting made from recyclable materials seems like a wise purchase, and at this price you won’t have to save up for it either…
“The Jerry Lamp (2005) represents a new level in lighting flexibility – literally. Made from recyclable silicone, Jerry is soft and durable, able to be dropped, knocked or tipped over with little concern. The malleable hook shape means that Jerry can be used for virtually any application – hook it onto the headboard of the bed or off the side of a bookshelf, place it on a side table or counter.”
