Atlanta Mirror

Recently my entry hall got an update with a new floor mirror, and I can honestly say it makes coming home a nicer experience. It opens up the space, which is really nice in smaller areas.

“Oversized mirrors such as the Atlanta Mirror (2003) by Michael Ogura have become affordable, modern-day solutions to many an interior dilemma. With its full-size reflective surface, the Atlanta effectively makes spaces look larger and brighter. The hand brushed stainless steel frame is corrosion resistant and solidly built to lean safely against the wall.”

16- and 20-gauge brushed stainless steel; 3/16″ glass mirror; 3M VHB adhesive.

Equal Area Map

Most of us could probably use a good look at this map- or at least post it up somewhere prominent to remind ourselves that there are many other places in the world. Not trying to be philosophical here, just suggesting some perspective.

“This map doesn’t just look good, it also serves a useful purpose. It is an Equal Area Projection, meaning that all countries are in correct proportion to one another in terms of size. This is rare in global mapping: maps generally illustrate their “mother” country as disproportionately large. Available in two versions. Version 1: yellow to red to purple and Version 2: (limited edition) green to salmon to brown.”

Convex Mirror bySebastian Wrong, 2004

I was just in Seattle this weekend and was reminded of how cool this mirror was when I saw it in one of the shops down town. (The store is called Ornamo, but they don’t have an online store–but do stop by if you’re in the area.)

The mirror is large in scale (35h x 12w x 10″d) and generally just really cool. It’s on sale now at Moma.

“Bring this nearly three-foot high version of the familiar rearview car mirror indoors. Wall mount and adjust by rotating 360 degrees, lowering or angling towards the wall to display your desired reflection. Made of a black injection-molded ABS frame with glass and anodized aluminum.”

InsideOut Collection Liqueur Glass

I have the InsideOut champagne glasses, and I do have to say they are quite stunning. So, if you’re more of a ‘liqueur’ fan, you can now appreciate your favorite drink in the utmost style.

“In BY:AMT’s collection of barware, the well known and oftentimes iconic shapes of glasses are hidden behind a neutral and discreet outer shape, unassuming and simple. But once you pour the drink, the glass’ inner identity appears creating an unusual and highly fascinating effect.”

The glasses are all mouth blown, are 1.5″ wide and 4.75″ high (4 x 12 cm) and come in a set of 2.

Horizontal Shoe Rack- Small

I think this is one of those things that you don’t fully appreciate until you actually own it. It would certainly organize entryways and decrease the chance of tripping over stray shoes. We’ve posted this before a while ago; now it’s available in the smaller size at a slightly more affordable price.

“The Horizontal Shoe Rack (2004) is a wall-mounted solution for organizing shoes. The simple design gives footwear the appearance of floating in air, and by taking shoes off the floor it simplifies the process of sweeping or vacuuming underneath.”

Brushed stainless steel.

XYZ Candle Holder

This cool candle holder has multiple arrangement options (stacked or individual) and reminds me of those cool old drawings of ‘architecture of the future’.

“..Elegant dark Wenge wood and cool and sleek aluminum make for a classy and elegant presentation of this new candle holder and the fact that it extends into all three axis leaves you lots of room for experimentation… Get a couple of them and start arranging them in different ways: arrange them back to back, or cascading in size, or turn them into a modernistic setting by stacking them…”

Hanger Coat Rack

This is nice if you’re someone who likes to hang your coat, because then you don’t get that little weird bump on the back of your coats from hanging on a traditional wall hook.

“By taking the traditional aesthetic and functionality of an everyday coat hanger this fun and practical product is created. A wall mounted coat hook appropriate for hanging a host of garments. Manufactured out of steel and finished in high gloss black or white.”

+336+ SMS Mirror

Now, let me just say I know this is terribly expensive, but it’s also terribly cool, and I’m hoping that there will soon be a more affordable version (I’m almost sure of it because technology is just that way) for us all to have. It’s a mirror that accepts SMS messages from a phone! I suppose this is a little more of what we would expect of the 21st century, given that we have high expectations from a childhood cartoon.

“The +336+, designed by Robert Stadler (of the French design group Radi Designers), is a mirror able to receive SMS messages sent from a mobile phone. The messages appear as luminous text, running on the mirrorsโ€™ surface when one gets close to the mirror.”

Limited edition of 20.
