If you’re going for the whole Eddie Murphy* aesthetic, may I recommend this flying carpet rug?

This is a clever and would make a great gift. You keep a month by your side and mark down important events, and when the month is over, you can attach them end to end and create a timeline.

The Japanese design firm &Design is known for designing very simple objects based on a theme. This years theme is “borders”, whether missing, blurred, distinctive or adaptive. The Nekko vase draws tribute to the missing roots by creating a stylized reminder of where the flower came from.

For those of you that might need it for telling time or for telling on others…

This is something different. If you’ve got a sparse corner or a section of floor to dedicate to a light, then you might consider this Kozom light by designer Alexandre Berthiaume. It adds a special sort of atmosphere- kind of a cross between a fun piece and an art-like ambience that isn’t easy to come by. Each piece is hand-made from inflated vinyl balls.

You might have seen the flat version of this posted before, but this is the first time I’ve come accross this smaller/thinner version.

This would make a nice, simple hostess gift (with flowers, ofcourse) for any of the upcoming holiday parties you may have been invited to. It’s a perfect way to show appreciation without breaking the bank.

Pipe dreams. A length of parchment stoneware gives the impression of industrial concrete pipe, honed porcelain smooth and cool to the touch.

These are cute and cheap. Unfortunately, not available for purchase online but if you have an Ikea nearby, just pop on over and pick up a few.

This is definitely a different way to show off some flowers. These “Ceremony Sticks” are made of Pyrex tubes and offer a unique way to have an arrangement with or without flowers. One can be placed within the other to have a mulit-layered effect.

Here’s a platter that certainly stands apart- all the subtle veining makes it look more like something you should put on the wall for display rather than run the risk of putting your party appetizers to shame.
