Jacob, Jones and Brown by Furni

This clock is made of a nice walnut and is really simply a nice piece. I especially like the placement of the clock mechanism. We take these things for granted, but some people just really know how to execute scale and proportion really well. And that is the Furni guys in a nutshell.

Not to mention, if you were to buy one of these clocks, I would honestly say that you were buying a clock from the absolute nicest guys.

Koko: Eclipse 18 x 18 pillow

This reminds me of the upstairs playroom of my daycare in the late 70’s. Totally in a good way.

I really like the geometric grid with the amorphous design layered on top.

“Koko Company Pillows. Cozy, delicate and wonderfully creative. Polysilk and georgette appliqué and embroidery. Koko is a celebration of natural fibers. Linen, cotton, raw silk fibers that breathe and give off an calm, pensive luster. The sturdy weave of the fabrics are lightened by the fluidity of hand appliqué, lace closures, cross stitch embroidery and novelty buttons.”

Arbo Mirror

I think this is so pretty.

“Rich tones of solid walnut applied in a random, raised pattern form the ‘frame’ of this wall-mounted mirror. The Arbo mirror adds a warm, contemporary accent to any room.”

Lytegem Lamp

I’ve long had a love affair with this little lamp. Designed in 1965 by Michael Lax, it remains a classic due to it’s simple design and localized light especially fitted for tableside/bedside reading. It’s available now in a limited commemorative edition from Lightolier.

“The telescoping neck adjusts from 6.5” to 15” and the lamp head swivels 360°. Light intensity can be changed from low to high using a switch located on the base. The heavy cube base anchors the design, and can be wall mounted for multi-directional sconce lighting.”

Moose & Deer Head

When I was a kid I used to get the balsa wood dinosaur kits and I loved them. These are a cooler version.

“Playing with the theme of ‘reinterpreting the codes of bourgeois furniture’, these designs are a modernized, almost abstract version of the trophy head, executed in triplicate.”

Convertible Picture Frame

These are nice and natural modern frames… and, they have an option to be a bud vase or a candle holder depending on which way you turn them over.

“In addition, they’re made of spalted alder…wood from trees that have naturally fallen in the forest; wood that has been left to age there. The result is a unique grain and color pattern. No two pieces are alike.”

Janne Kyttanen: 1597 Wall Sconce

Strictly for the ‘wow’ factor, this sconce has to be mentioned…quite amazing.

“1597 is based on the Fibonacci sequence of numbers appearing in the nature all around. 1597 is inspired by the Coneflower and the way its seeds’ growing patterns are arranged. All the holes in this shade are arranged around the bulb, so no matter where you look at it, you can’t escape the beatiful rays of light it creates.
1597 can be mounted on the wall or on the ceiling. Due to being such a strong decorative shape, it works well as s single source of light as well as an arrayed sequence of lights.
Notes: since this is a European wall sconce, please make sure to ask your electrician if the mounting will match your wall outlet.”

Size: 12.5″ diameter x 6.3″ deep.

‘ARCHIMEDES’ LETTER SCALE BY ARNOUT VISSER

How cool is this scale? I know that with all this “online bill pay” and “e-mail” nonsense there’s not a lot of mail correspondence lately except for junk mail flyers and such, but I think there’s really nothing classier than hand writing a note and actually mailing it with proper postage. Show the Martha Stewarts of the world that not only do you know how to write a serious letter but also that you know it costs roughly 39 cents (or whatever) to cover the postage.

“This letter scale by Arnout Visser uses Archimedes’s principle to weigh letters. A graduated cylinder of Pyrex glass is floating in liquid. The weight of the letter pushes down the upper cylinder, thus causing the liquid to rise in between the two cylinders. The movement is thus measured and transferred into weight units. You can read the weight of the letter by the moving of the water. 2″ x 7.87” “
